Childhood for Joshua was rough. His family was poor and lived on the beach. His dad contracted HIV, was ostracized, and attempted suicide multiple times until he succeeded. Many others in the area committed suicide also. Josh's brother killed himself 4 years later. The church his grandma took him to when he was young only preached hell fire so he found no comfort there, and started a decent into atheism. Josh worked hard to make a way for himself financially but the stress was profound. He says he ended up "having everything but nothing mattered." When he could stand it no longer he attempted suicide himself. As he took the actions to end his life he asked God "if you are real, let me die." Joshua says he did in a way - he woke up to a miraculous peace, and the panic riddled Josh was gone. This was just the beginning of his journey into intimate encounters with Jesus and what he does today to help others. Who knew that falling down could change your entire life? Darci came to learn just how much after a fall down the stairs turned into a near death experience. At first they thought it was just a back injury but later discovered a nerve pain disorder CRPS. Darci became bedridden with 2 little children. "It" started when Marty was around 7. "It" was debilitating and kept him in bed for 2 days. Through elementary school and growing up Marty got so accustomed to "it" that he thought "it" was "just normal." But "it" wasn't. Growing up was quite traumatic for Crystal. Starting with being a "mistake" that her parents didn't plan, and led into a "very scary childhood." Emotional abuse and manipulation, verbal abuse, violent outbursts, and physical abuse were the norm. Later on sexual abuse took place as well. The trauma started early in Amanda's life. Being raised in a military family they moved a lot, and each person in her family unit dished out a different kind of abuse. Emotional, physical, and sexual. The only safe place she could find was at a church on base that she ran away to on Sunday mornings. But that was only temporary. Amanda had no idea what healthy relationships looked like. At three separate times in multiple countries she found herself being trafficked. It didn't happen like the media talks about, and getting free was only through the grace of God.
