In this episode, Scott W. Luton (and special guest host) Chris Barnes interview a longtime friend and Vietnam Veteran, Mike Roman. Mike takes us through his early days and through his time in Vietnam. He also shares some of this challenging experiences here in the U.S. after he returned from his tours in Vietnam. This is a great episode that spotlights an action-oriented leader that has constantly served others & done good things.
Mike Roman served his country in the U.S. Army as a Field Crypto Maintenance Tech in Vietnam. He has since tirelessly & selflessly served both the Veteran and the Global Supply Chain communities ever since.
In the middle 1980s, Mike Roman, Business Capabilities Architect and Founder of Manufacturing Practices, Inc. began his last manufacturing front office role when he assumed IT, Material Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Systems management responsibilities for a small family owned business. Along with those roles, he and other employees successfully deployed an ERP System for the organization. It was the most rewarding experience of Mike's professional career. As soon as he transitioned his responsibilities to a colleague, he left that organization and began working as a Business Capabilities Architect. Today, Manufacturing Practices continues to help companies integrate ERP System software into their business. Manufacturing Practices' efforts help companies focus Production Planning, Shop Floor Control, Supply Chain Management, and Business Process Reengineering activities that create bottom line improvements.
Mike Roman has served on a wide variety of boards, commissions & initiatives, especially with respect to the organization formerly known as APICS (now the Association for Supply Chain Management).

A Frank Conversation with Combat Veteran and Entrepreneur Patrick Nelson of Loyalty Point Leadership
In this episode of Veteran Voices, Scott W. Luton interviews combat Veteran, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, and entrepreneur Patrick Nelson. Patrick shares his journey from a challenging upbringing, through the pain and loss of war, and into his transition to ultimately founded Loyalty Point Leadership.
Patrick has gained both local and national accolades for his military service, academic career, and work as a professional speaker and trainer including being named the inaugural NFL-Tillman Military Scholar. He is an experienced leader that spent nearly seven years in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and completed three combat deployments leading soldiers. His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal.
Patrick is an engaging facilitator that has led leadership development programs for a variety of clients, from Fortune 500 clients to small businesses and across a variety of industries. Off the proverbial leadership field, he serves his community by actively volunteering with Tee It Up for the Troops, a non-profit organization that raises money for wounded veterans.
Patrick studied at Minnesota State University and received a Bachelor’s Degree graduating Magna Cum Laude. He also has a Master’s Degree in Sport Management from Minnesota State and a Masters in Organization Development from Pepperdine University.
