Vet Med For Idiots By Idiots
Vet Med For Idiots By Idiots
Cory Johnson and Kent Morton DVM
Your two newest favorite idiots, Cory the Common Idiot and Kent the Doctor Idiot take on a myriad of pet topics in a (sorta) weekly podcast. They'll make you laugh, they might make you cry, they might even make you cringe, but hopefully, you'll learn something about the furriest and favorite part of your family. If you are looking for intelligent and linear discussions, clean vocabularies, and ground breaking content, this podcast isn't for you. If you want the feel like you're sitting around a table, picking up a little knowledge and sharing a laugh whilst sharing a beverage with friends, pull up a proverbial seat and listen in. Be an idiot with them. While Dr Kent is a real veterinarian, this show does not constitute a doctor/patient relationship. "Vet Med For Idiots By Idiots" is designed to bring light and educate on multiple topics, not to diagnose, advise, or create a treatment plan. Please always consult your local veterinarian for any and all care specific to your pet.
Real (Shelter) Talk with Kristi and Melinda
Want the best kind of uncontained chaos? Bring back two of the most energetic, outspoken, and incredibly badass guests (who are besties) and give them mics, and have them talk about the pitfalls and problems in the shelter world, and you get this. Listen as Kristi, the Doggy Daycare Idiot, and Melinda, The Rescue Idiot, talk shelters with Kent and Cory. It gets good. Unhinged, all over the world, but good. Lots of talk about how to make a good shelter and why some places fail their dogs.  Kristi https://houndstownusa.com/locations/fayetteville/ https://www.instagram.com/houndstownfayetteville?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== https://www.instagram.com/yelling_in_my_ear?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== Melinda https://www.instagram.com/purely_melinda?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==

Ain't Dog Walking Funny with Rebecca Jaffe
Holy cow, folks! We have a great episode in store this week. The Idiots welcome comedien/musician/roast master/peak awesome human being Rebecca Jaffe to talk about dog walking. For a lot of people, dog walking is just a vehicle for a romcom couple to meet, but for some, it's a way to make ends meet and allow busy people the chance to have their dogs get exercise. They discuss how dogwalking works, different apps (think Tinder or Uber, but for dogwalkers), then move into more important topics, such as the best worst movies, and finish up with a few (semi-animal related) songs. Rebecca really is the best. Check her out! https://www.rebjaffe.com/ https://www.instagram.com/reb_jaffe/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/5uvqAQAGoBQo9qh3zSscFO

Long Live Dog with Dr. Kevin Toman
Disclaimer While we allow and welcome differing views and scientific data based opinions on the show, it is important for us to make clear that we have not tried any of the supplements or dietary plans with any of our dogs, nor did Dr. Kevin give any compensation for having him on the show. The opinions and statements made in this episode do not in any way reflect the beliefs or mindsets of the crew at Vet Med For Idiots By Idiots. Good Tuesday, and we have a fun episode for you. Dr. Kevin, the Longevity Idiot, joins the The Common Idiot and the Associate Producer Idiot for a talk of how to lengthen your pet's lives. I mean, who would NOT want more time with their furry companion. They discuss things such as limiting joint and fall impacts, healthy lifestyles, diets, and other ways for Fido to live a healthier and happier (and longer) life. We also talk cheeseburgers, so, there's a long ways to go for us. https://helpingpetslivelonger.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqr51hq35KWnythXa3ZaK0zHNcBNZ-qech7MnAx9jHFmSG1n6lf https://www.instagram.com/thelongevityvet/

Kent Doesn't Do Worms
I have to say, sometimes something worming its way into your heart is not a good thing. Case in point, heart worms, the topic this week. Kent and Cory talk preventatives, symptoms, and other random tangents. The only time you should not have heart worm prevantitives, or have any concerns for your dog regarding heart worms, is if you live somewhere that mosquitoes exclusively do not live and will never be. If that doesn't describe your locale, take care of your doggo's heart.

Anatomical Pathology with Dr. Mike Dark
Wanna talk about anatomical pathology? We make it sounds oh so sexy this week with the awesome and funny Dr. Mike Dark. We discuss what it is, what differentiates it from clinical pathology, its purpose and practical uses, Michigan cities, and mostly not go off on too many tangents. Enjoy! What better way to enjoy your Cinco De Mayo!

Giardia and Being Mostly Usually Right
Happy Tuesday, and welcome welcome. The Idiots pare down to the original cast again, just Cory the Common Idiot and Kent the Dr Idiot, and talk Giardia, an intestinal parasite that causes big problems in dogs' (and humans' and tons of other animals') guts and butts. Was what I said correct? Mostly. Is that the theme of this episode? Enough to say I'm right, but technically I am wrong. Anyone who likes to twist what they said/did into always being right, this episode is a masterclass in that. Check it out!

The Best Kind of Unkindness With James McGetrick
Jim has returned, and we talk studies with ravens. If you remember him with the wolves studies episode, this is a continuation, but with some of the smartest animals on the planet. We discuss storage principles with ravens, how they live socially, and how effective they would be in assisting in a bank heist. We also talk about nerd gangs, so there's that.

Zoo Vet Med With Dr. Ian Part 2
Welcome to the conclusion of the Zoo Vet Saga. The back half is much like the front half, so, take it however you'd like. Picking up from last week, Ian and the Idiots (claiming the band name) discuss theft of parrots (and their pettiness), the path to become a zoo vet pro, knowing that perseverance is key, and the twins crash the party to distract from a very deep and heartfelt discussion and growl hot dogs.

Zoo Vet Med With Dr. Ian Part 1
Howdy, Idiot Army!!! This week, we have the opportunity to speak with the vet from the San Fransisco Zoo, Dr. Ian, and get to hear about how vet med works in the zoo world. He is incredibly likable, from starting off pandering to our exhaustive Icelandic following, talking six seven (if you're over the age of 17, you may have zero idea what this means), why zoo conservancy is so important (and saves animals), and helping explore why all of Dr. Kent's friends are A-holes. We also discuss working on site, challenges that arise, mental health of animals (not just physical), and the unfortunate fact that "69" isn't funny anymore. Listen in. There is a semi abrupt ending-we had such a fun time with Dr. Ian that we ended up inadvertantly having a two part episode. Check in next week for the back half, and if you're in the San Francisco area, check out thier zoo. It is quite amazing, and Dr. Ian's tireless dedication is a huge reason for this.  San Francisco Zoo & Gardens: www.sfzoo.org

A New Leash on Life
So, starting off, quick note. Cory the Common Idiot is no longer on the show. He will not be a part of anything going forward. Moving on, this week Associate Producer Idiot Beth and Kent the Doctor Idiot bring on some fine folks from Almost Home Humane Society in Lafayette, Indiana. Brittany Tommila, director, and Lacie Eastman, the medical team manager, talk with the Idiots about the challenges, struggles, and creativity of medicine in a shelter. They talk about how they can string a budget, improv medical procedures, and still show the love and compassion each animal needs, including taking on ones that would be put down somewhere else. They also talk fundraising, and while it's too late for this year's event, they talk about the yearly St Patrick Day's .1k. Yes, you read that right. Even Kent can do that. And there's beer at the end!! If you are interested in donating, hearing about other events, getting ready for next year's .1k, volunteering, or getting a new pet, please check them out at https://www.almosthomehumane.org/ You can also find them on Insta and Tiktok at @almosthomehumane Facebook at Almost Home Humane Society (Lafayette) If you've made it this far...do you realize that April 1 is tomorrow? Just unfortunately, wasn't on a Tuesday... Cory will return, much like an MCU hero, next week.
