One of the best podcasts ever
Perfect balance of varying perspectives. I love the in-depth discussion of musical theory, literature and Christian culture and theology. I’m on episode 11 and am eagerly anticipating listening through future seasons/albums.
Never seen a live mwY show
😀😀😀
I love mewithoutYou since circa 2002. I’m a 39 year old mom. This podcast is phenomenal. But I would also like to geek out about the fact that the opening story of season 4 is the exact same story that frames the 28 minute long “signs” episode of Bluey. ❤️❤️❤️. I am dying of joy over here right now. Thanks guys!!!

Torches Together
These guys bring so much light to these songs. As a Christian, I listened to these songs with a certain framework and it’s amazing to have my framework either affirmed or challenged in the best of ways. There is a sense of humility among the three that they know when they are definitely pushing the boundary which is greatly appreciated. I’m a huge fan. Can’t freaking wait for Ten Stories season. I just don’t see how the episodes won’t be at least 2 hours. Great work.

So much detail
I thought I knew what the expression “getting into the weeds” meant, but then I listened to this pod! The detail they go into gives so much more life to the songs and band I’ve followed since their first album. I don’t think every theory they discuss lands (and I bet they’d be the first to admit that), but their conversation and expertise make for listening. I’ve had a blast learning more about the band’s lyrics, music theory, philosophy, religion, and history from these guys. Thanks for the content! Stoked to get into the weeds on CFUTF, my favorite album.

Should be offered for graduate credit
What I loved about mewithoutYou is reflected in these discussions. The hosts are passionate about the music, the lyrical and musical sources, and the community that loves this band. I enjoy the music more for having listened to this podcast. Essential listening for any mwY fan or anyone who enjoys great philosophical discussions!

Beards/flannels niche
Wow, what a weird podcast that is for me and my flannel bros. I found this in the days following their farewell show.

A trifecta!
Love the look at one of my favorite bands from their perspectives: musicality/theory, philosophy/theology! Thank you and keep up the great work!

mewithoutYou nostalgia and love
You can tell these boys love mewithoutYou and are honoring this monumental music that shaped so many of our journeys from childhood to adulthood. A great podcast for When you are a gentleman in a poorly knit sweater writing a 4 word letter to a beatle king asking if all our things are just thoughts and if the red cow will return while the watchmens eyes are closed. A podcast honoring sentimental songs to a love so much refined, we know not what it is.

Interesting in-depth exploration into mwY
A quote from episode 5 sums this show up well: “…we’re going on all sorts of fantasy rides of meaning that can’t possibly be intended”. Discussions of philosophy, religious perspectives, and music theory make this a worthwhile listen for those mourning the coming end(?) of mewithoutYou.

A must for any mwY Fan!
As a mewithoutYou fanboy since their Cornerstone performance in 2002; this is a beautiful appendix to their catalog. The hosts passion, insight and levity is a perfect mix. I would enjoy hanging with these gents, however, do I exist? All circles presuppose…

Just what I needed right now
mewithoutYou has been my favorite band since A to B Life and they are the only band that I must see when they come around; but I do not have the chance to engage with anyone else who really LOVES this band. Since the Farewell tour has been booked (I bought my tickets the first night) I’ve been listening to the band nonstop and have been getting progressively more sad about this chapter in our lives closing. With no one who really shares my grief, I gladly found like minded people on the subreddit. Then, just today, I was directed to this podcast. I am so happy and thankful that you guys decided to do this! So excited to hear you guys as you progress through the albums. I feel like I have people to grieve with. Thank you. Continue to carry the torch.

Fantastic Deep-Dive
As a hardcore fan of mwY, i am really enjoying this podcast. As suggested by the hosts, i listen to each song before the corresponding episode in preparation. i really appreciate the diverse professional backgrounds of the hosts. From theology to literature to musical theory, these guys have the knowledge to really break down each song. As a lover of poetry/literature and a musician myself, i find myself learning many new things each episode! Keep up the good work! - Kyle C

As mewithoutYou exits, here comes the podcasts
I’ve been a fan of mewithoutYou since about 2004, and I’ve seen them live about 14 times. I wrote my first paper in graduate school on mewithoutYou way back in 2009 (MA in English). I knew the book, All the Clever Words, existed, but I was still surprised that others devoted this much critical attention to this band that I love. I follow Joel Harrison on Twitter, and just happened to look at his profile where I saw the information for uswithoutThem. I call this a happy accident. After listening to the first two episodes, I’m locked in for the duration of the series. The hosts have fresh insights into the lyrics and music, as well as good applications of secondary texts (Soren Kierkegaard’s Either/Or in ep. 2). I’m looking forward to what is to come.

Kurt Vonnegut
In regards to episode two, when discussing the non linear aspect of the album, they toss out a reference to Vonnegut quotes in the lyrics, but fail to mention that Slaughterhouse Five’s entire plot revolves around the elasticity of time. Great podcast, but let the theology major talk more.

These Guys Know Their Stuff
Not a bunch of yokels with “um” laced dialogue. Two of them are PhDs, so you’re getting intelligent conversation about one of the deepest bands to ever produce sound. I was hooked by the first episode. Even if you’re not a fan of mewithoutYou, you might be after listening to this well thought out podcast.

gratitude and relief.
I am so thankful for this podcast and I can't wait to see it bloom into what it will become. I feel a little less crazy looking so deeply into mewithoutyou's work over the decades of listening to them. This band is as important to its fans as the Beatles, Dylan or Grateful Dead were to those in previous generations. Thank you for making this podcast, I am truly appreciative.

Fresh look at a great band
It’s exciting to see folks talking about mewithoutYou in this much depth. Can’t wait to hear more from the podcast.
