As an award-winning filmmaker, Abi’s passion, talent and creative ability in the television and film industry speaks for him extensively. In 2018, he won two Telly Awards for his production of Fire and Ice, a captivating love story filmed in Iceland. In that same year, he won two Emmy awards for a short documentary.
Abi Matesun shares his story of pivoting from having a degree in Management and Information Systems and finding his way through the camera. Abi took his passion and embarked on a journey to creativity from encouragement he initially received from a clerk that developed his images at Walgreens.

In this episode, Shivawn sits down with award winning writer, producer and director Janlatae' Mullins of Heartbeat Film Club. Her commercial credits include work with Fox, CMT, Barbie, Amazon Studios, Paramount Pictures, Bravo, Hershey's, Pantene, Nickelodeon and OWN. Her short films have won numerous awards including Best Screenplay in 2018, and the grand prize winner for her short film Soul Fire.
Janlatae' shares her story of knowing that she was suppose to direct and tell stories at the early age of 8 years old but not going to film school until later in life. How she's recognized that the process of becoming an award winning director is still unfolding and evolving.
She recounts the time that she decided she was pitching to the producer of Dawson's Creek, taking a bus to the middle of nowhere thinking this was her shot of starting her career in film. Little did she know this would be a lesson on having more than one creative idea in the bag.
