I’m a long-time listener and have been a Patreon of Unresolved for years. Micheal Whelan is a great reporter of these unsettling cases. He investigates them thoroughly and offers thoughtful commentary. This isn’t a flashy, haha, rubber-necking type of podcast. It’s always interesting and one of my favorites.

Long time listener, finally leaving a review. This podcast is exceptional. The mix of topics - usually true crime, but occasionally delightful forays into weird world events - is spot-on and Micheal is a fantastic narrator. He’s focused on things that have been researched and proven, and only brings in counterpoints backed by evidence and not just personal opinions. I especially appreciate how easygoing he is in pace and tone. Some of these podcasts get a little histrionic, but not here. Give it a listen, and cross your fingers for the next Skywalker-style story or the most recent episode about a suspicious nuclear explosion.

Michael Whelan is the voice of a true crime generation

This podcast is one of the best out there. The narrator’s voice is so comforting it envelopes you into the story so you are not just listening - you are there. The problem is the ads are so loud and so abrupt, it’s uncomfortable to listen to the episodes. One minute you’re into the story and the next you’re being ripped from back to reality with the sounds of the loud, cantankerous, ill-harmonious that make you physically jump. I would prefer if the narrator just recorded the ads himself, opposed to just slapping these disruptive bombs every few minutes in this masterpiece. It’s so jarring that I can’t even stand to let the ads play. The absolute worst.

Micheal Whelan is an experienced and compassionate host. The content is well-researched and honest. I’ve been listening since 2018 and still enjoy every episode. Thank you, Michael!

I love unresolved and missing persons cases and this podcast is well researched, insightful and unique. The host has a great voice and seems thoughtful & intelligent. I highly recommend.

I’ve been listening to this show since very early on. It is one of my absolute favorites. Straight forward and well researched. The host is also receptive to corrections and admitting when they accidentally got a fact wrong. He is clearly passionate about the work. Will continue to listen as long as there are episode uploaded.

This case seems perfect for the use of forensic genealogy to solve as there is dna available to use.

This is truly one of the best true crime podcasts out there. Not about all the hype, not just trying to squeeze every penny out of his production. He focuses on this one podcast, doesn’t have an entire production team behind him, and yet his podcasts are better researched, better narrated, with a better (unique and novel) scope of topics and selection of cases. He’s not telling lame jokes just to hear the sound of his own voice, he’s not trying to be funny or “cool,” instead he’s completely focused on providing accurate and unbiased information, while keeping the victims (and larger societal impact) of these crimes in the forefront of his reporting. The only podcast’s patreon I’ve paid to join….

Unresolved is one of the earliest indie true crime podcasts and remains one of the best. It’s also so underrated for the contributions it’s made to raising awareness of now-high-profile crimes that were not well known when Whelan covered them—particularly LISK. Whelan is and has always been victim focused and ethical and he deserves a lot of credit for continually pushing true crime media to be better. ETA: I decided to update my review today when I was struck by how well written and humanistic the introduction to the episodes on the Villisca axe murders was. This show ages like fine wine! It’s cool to see how Whelan’s skills as a writer and presenter have only continued to grow.

I applaud you for covering the true crimes of Jeffrey Epstein & his co-conspirators, known & yet to be known. Your podcast is the only “crime” podcast of which I am aware that has covered the history of these horrific crimes. It is so much more than an “American Tragedy” - its reach is global.

Your blind hatred of DJT is impossible to overlook. Get over it.

I think I’ve been listening since about 2016 and this has always been a favorite of mine. Micheal is always treats victims respectfully and often covers cases that I have never heard of. The Epstein series has been incredible!

There are weird pauses in the narration, and not much change in the inflection. I had to stop listening.

Host never goes on tangents or inserts unnecessary jokes for the heck of it. The cases are interesting, thoroughly researched and easy to follow. I stumbled across this podcast because i was tired of other crime pods with irrelevant babbling and comedy (no shade, just not always the vibe). I want more from Mr. Whelan.

Solid production. I like that the host focuses on each case and doesn’t go off on unrelated tangents. Some podcasts wander too far off topic, and I appreciate that this one stays on track.

Really well-done podcast, fully informative. Occasionally lapses into an annoying habit of playing long clips of a press conference, but these can be skipped fairly easily.

Well researched & intriguing writing & delivery

Host has bad grammar and an unpleasant hissing voice. Manages to sound robotic and mush-mouthed at the same time.

The podcast should be called Unhinged, due to the host’s inability to be objective and dragging his leftist ideology into what is supposed to be a TC podcast…. Additionally, his voice is extremely grating, and gives me the ick.

I’m a patron, just forget to review, and it’s so worth it since everything is equally well produced. I can’t recommend it enough. Michael is an amazing story teller (true story teller!) and he always manage to give his unique take on cases I’ve thought “I can’t hear another telling of this case”. Although he manage to find very rarely talked about cases or incidents that leaves you with a sense of nobody really knows what the heck is going on. Or anything is possible I suppose.

Limited details and even then they are often incorrect. No cross referencing. Then the interpretation/analysis is on par with a high school research project.

I wanted to like this podcast because i am such an avid true crime listener but I just cannot get through it. I listened to two full episodes before leaving this review. The narrator delivers every piece of information with a singular monotone voice and restates information he has already said 3,4, even 5 times. I get it. I get that the religious group was once called great thunder and is now called the almighty church of god. The repetition is like nails on a chalk board for me personally. Just can’t do it.

Michael and his soothing voice adds so much to these gut wrenching stories. This is a truly wonderful podcast with highly researched and factual information, no ads or very few and not too long. Love it! Thank you for these stories. I pray for these Families!

I have enjoyed listening to Unresolved for a few years. The storytelling and format are unique within the genre of true crime podcasts and the overall production is great. One thing I have had trouble getting over is the occasional mispronunciation of various common words that make me wonder whether the reader knows his subject. For example , today’s episode about a man from Czechoslovakia. In the episode, the pre-1993 country name is consistently pronounced with a soft “ch” sound like “cheese”, however the proper English version is with a hard “ch” sound like in “character”. It’s hard to listen to the repeated mistakes.

I just started listening and cannot get through an episode, the narrator’s voice is so creepy sounding!

I’ve been listening for a number of years now and really have noticed a huge increase in the quality of production. The content has always been five stars thanks for your hard work.

The permanent damage Trump caused by putting evangelical nut jobs in the Supreme Court cannot be forgotten and it’s imperative to keep him out of office before he can cause any more damage to an already damaged country. You were brave to put out this episode and I applaud you because the issue of women’s health care is also near and dear to my heart. I’m disgusted with these politicians and all the pain and suffering they have caused and hope to see them all removed from office before they cause more damage. Thank you again.

This is one of my fav true crime podcasts. I love that some lesser known cases and victims who would be discriminated against by many others are not avoided.

I’ve been listening to Unresolved for years. It’s one of my favorite true crime podcasts. Michael chooses a great mix of “popular” stories and lesser known ones. I greatly appreciate his compassionate and non-judgmental story telling. His episodes, while some are quite shocking or disturbing, do not focus on shock value but rather giving a voice to the victim. I very much his appreciate his condemnation and commentary on the known “bad guys” - often saying what I’m thinking while also advocating for the victims despite their choices in life. Unresolved is one of my “comfort podcasts” - when I can’t find something else to listen to, I can count on Unresolved.
