Happy Friday Friends,
Episode 33 is HERE, and its good! This Friday I was lucky enough to be joined by Ama Appiyah! Ama is the host of the Bonnet Talks, a student at GW receiving a Global MBA, and an aerie brand ambassador. During our episode, Ama and I discuss how detrimental performative allyship can be, while also providing advice on how to do more. Ways to get involved within your community, and fighting for human rights offline as well. Ama and I define allyship as being a friend, and I hope this episode provides you with some tools and ideas on what ways you can get involved, how you define being an ally, and the importance of voting for candidates that value the people you love. Finally, we talk about the significance of acknowledging that it is not the role of your black friends to inform you about systemic racism within America.
Ama is both so kind and well informed, and it was a privilege to speak with her. I hope you all enjoy the episode as much as I did.
Have a lovely, safe weekend friends.
xx,
Hale
