Almost 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ gave a dire warning: Mankind would eventually bring all life on earth to the point of extinction, and that only His return would prevent that catastrophe. The fulfillment of this prophecy seemed impossible until the end of World War II, when the first weapons of mass destruction were deployed against Japan. Yet in the decades that have followed, the ways in which humanity could commit planet-wide suicide have only increased, as the future Jesus prophesied has only become more realistic, not less.
