16. Paul Flores trial VERDICT, Adnan Syed is entirely free, plus spooky szn media recs
Wow, thanks so much for the listens on the last episode's recap of the Adnan Syed developments! This week we have even bigger headlines if possible; in the form of MAJOR news about the 4-month trial of Paul and Rubin Flores for the 1996 murder of Kristen Smart. Verdicts were read this week after two separate juries deliberated, and wow I thought this day would never come! And if that wasn't enough - Adnan Syed is a FULLY free man after the pending DNA results came back this week, pointing to two alternate suspects and causing the state to completely drop all charges against him in the killing  of Hae Min Lee. Will we have another trial soon? What's next for Adnan? All that and more. Finally, scumbag Harvey Weinstein heads to trial, part 2, on 11 counts of rape and assault. And we share some spooky snz-appropriate watches, reads, and listens for your weekend.SourcesPaul Flores is found GUILTY of murder/Ruben Flores is found not guiltyAll charges dropped against Adnan SyedHarvey Weinstein LA trial to begin MondayYour Own Backyard PodcastRabia and Ellen Solve the CaseUnsolved MysteriesThe Cut article on "The Watcher"Please remember to rate and review - unless you're gonna hate on my voice because sorry it's just my voice - and email me your tips, comments, and Halloween costumes at [email protected]!

15. Adnan Syed is FREE! Full recap + what's next
This episode is admittedly 3 weeks overdue, but we have a MAJOR, major, impossible to see coming update in the case of Adnan Syed, who was convicted over 20 years ago for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, and has been serving out a life sentence ever since. We cover the shocking update of the state of Maryland filing a motion to have his conviction vacated, and the even more shocking update of his conviction ACTUALLY being vacated! Unbelieavble. Emmy also shares some media recommendations and delves into the heated debate about the new Dahmer Netflix show and what it says about the true crime genre as a whole. 14. Sunny Balwani & Elizabeth Holmes updates, Alex Murdaugh's case keeps getting crazier, Scott Peterson in court again
This week's episode is a little chaotic and a little all over the place, but we cover some ground and get caught up on updates in a handful of high-profile true crime cases, including what's up with Sunny Balwani's pending sentencing, Elizabeth Holmes' latest scheme to avoid prison time, crazily, Scott Peterson is in the news cycle again (ugh!), and R. Kelly general awfulness. Emmy also shares a handful of media recs in the true crime space, both podcasts, and books, and introduced a new segment: outside of crime, where she shares an unrelated obsession that's making/ruining her life this week (the obsesssion is part of the reason this podcast is belated.)Listen in and get updated!Sources:The latest with Sunny BalwaniElizabeth Holmes asks for retrialScott Peterson's bid for retrialScott Peterson's case WikipediaTrue Crime Obsesssed: The Murder of Laci PetersonR. 13. FBI Raids, Alex Jones, Breonna Taylor officers, and last Salem Witch Trials witch is cleared,
Welcome to episode 13! We're breaking format a little bit today and talking about some different-than-usual topics that are in the headlines this week, because wow is it a different-than-usual week! We have to talk about the FBI Mar-A-Lago raids...we have to talk about Alex Jones. And then we also go into where Ghislaine Maxwell is serving her sentence, what sentence Katherine Magbanua got last week, how the very last accused woman in the Salem Witch Trials had her name cleared 300 + years after the fact...and more. It's a doozy. It's a mix bag. It's a lot. So to wrap up, Emmy shares some of the non true-crime media recommendations (breaking format again!) she's consuming this week to disassociate just a bit.
