
She was young and pretty. She had her whole life ahead of her. Maybe she was having problems right now, but she was young. She would surely get her life together soon. Except she'd never get the chance.
She knew she shouldn't use drugs anymore. But, her life was hard, and the drugs took her away from her problems, even if just for a short while.
She wanted concert tickets, and for once, she had some money. But the drugs were calling. She knew she shouldn't, but she got into a stranger's car anyway. The Arizona heat was stifling, and the car was sure to have air conditioning. She got in and asked if he could help her to find what she wanted, needed. He obliged. He drove her to pick up a friend of his.
The dealer got into the car. She got what her money would afford her. She sniffed the drugs. At first, the rush was exciting, soothing even. Then something went wrong. She didn't know what was happening.
She had never felt this way before. Her hearing was growing faint, but she could still make out the sounds of men arguing. She felt hands on her arms and shoulders. She felt the hot, unforgiving blacktop under her bare upper back. She blacked out. Gone forever.
