LIT VERSEHebrews THOUGHT BREAKDOWNThe goal of the word is rest (according to this chapter). It’s meant to lead us to rest, ceasing from activity. The goal of the word is not work, it is rest. Sometimes it seems like a lot of work to get in the word? That’s a lie the devil wants us to believe to keep us from getting into the word. He doesn’t want us to live in the land resting. He wants us to overwork. Work is effort. He wants us to try to work our way into heaven. He knows we will wear ourselves out with work. He wants us to believe that getting in the word is lots of work, but it’s really a trick, a disguise, for what the word really is, it is rest for our souls.Jesus, who is the Word, says in Matthew Don’t get caught in this lie. When you don’t get in the word you are literally stealing rest from yourself. Getting in the word is kinda like getting a blood transfusion when you have leukemia.Sickness, misery and eventual death are the result of progressive leukemia without treatment.When you get a blood transfusion it is literally hooking up to a source of life, removing the bad blood. It’s hard to rest when you don’t feel good. When you are sick, rest is tough to get. When you start feeling better, rest is easy. Sleep is sweet. To get sweet sleep we need a blood transfusion which is found in the word. Come to Me Jesus says, and you will find rest for your souls.Depriving yourself from the word is like depriving yourself from rest. You NEED REST.WHAT IS THE SPIRIT SAYING?Reframe the way you think of the Word. It’s better and more important than you think.There are levels of relationship with the word. There is milk drinking and there is meat eating. You can’t be a meat eater until you are a milk drinker. You have to grow into being mature. You don’t get there overnight. Being born again means you start from being an infant. It takes time and nutrition to grow. Drink the milk if you want to eat the meat.
