That’s www.NealandAmie .com Today we are talking about dysfunctional families. I mean let’s be honest. Every family has its dysfunction, right? Some family dysfunction is our own faults, other aspects of our dysfunction are not our faults at all, and we just were stuck in it. In today’s episode we are going to look at the difference between dysfunctional and functional families and see what God has to say about it through diving into His word. Let’s jump into today’s episode with guest Vincent Pearman.  Just because families are dysfunctional does not mean that we have to stay that way! Jesus died to make “functional” available! Dysfunctional people make dysfunctional families. The devils mission is to keep us offended with God and each other so we stay dysfunctional. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. The devil wants to divide, Jesus died to restore what has been divided. Even though we are people who sometimes get offended with others (bait of satan), through relationship with the Spirit we have an opportunity that we NEED to take Him up on. The Great Opportunity is that our identity can change. We can take the seat Jesus died to give us and become children of God! God gives His best to His kids. Our daddy is the King of Kings, that means you are princes and princesses in the Kingdom of God! We need to shift from divided and defeated kingdoms to a mentality and reality that we are ROYALTY because our Daddy is the KING!

In today’s episode we are going to look at the difference between dysfunctional and functional families and see what God has to say about it through diving into His word. Let’s jump into today’s episode. ____________________________________________________________________________ This is part 2 of the series we are calling Functional Family! God’s idea was to have functional people functioning in a functional family! Through that functional family we are supposed to spread good function to people around the world. The devil, whose name also means “divider” is doing anything he can to disrupt and destroy God's plan. He wants us to be dysfunctional people who lead dysfunctional families in a dysfunctional world. Last week pointed out that one of Satan's greatest tricks is to create offense in people and between God and people. When someone is walking in offense, what happens is “a fence” forms around them, separating people from God and each other. If you missed the episode go to our website to give it a listen! Go to NealandAmie.com, look for a link to our podcast. “The Triplefect Podcast” ____________________________________________________________________________ This week we are going to talk about protecting our hearts from OFFENSE so we can step into the OPPORTUNITY (O - O) when offense happens bitterness can set in, when bitterness sets in we hold grudges and withhold forgiveness. The one holding the grudge is the one drinking the poison The one holding the grudge is one missing the opportunity Being offended is like holding a bottle of poison, wanting the one who offended you to pay while you sip on the poison bottle. OFFENSE keeps “A-Fence” around you so you don’t take OPPORTUNITY to access your inheritance in Christ. (you have opportunity to access a divine inheritance) Let’s look at the Parable of the Lost Son in Luke 15: The Story of the Lost Son 11-12a Then he said, “There was once a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, I want right now what’s coming to me.’ 12b-16 “So the father divided the property between them. It wasn’t long before the younger son packed his bags and left for a distant country. There, undisciplined and dissipated, he wasted everything he had. After he had gone through all his money, there was a bad famine all through that country and he began to feel it. He signed on with a citizen there who assigned him to his fields to slop the pigs. He was so hungry he would have eaten the corn-cobs in the pig slop, but no one would give him any. 17-20a “That brought him to his senses. He said, ‘All those farmhands working for my father sit down to three meals a day, and here I am starving to death. I’m going back to my father. I’ll say to him, Father, I’ve sinned against God, I’ve sinned before you; I don’t deserve to be called your son. Take me on as a hired hand.’ He got right up and went home to his father. 20b-21 “When he was still a long way off, his father saw him. His heart pounding, he ran out, embraced him, and kissed him. The son started his speech: ‘Father, I’ve sinned against God, I’ve sinned before you; I don’t deserve to be called your son ever again.’ 22-24“But the father wasn’t listening. He was calling to the servants, ‘Quick. Bring a clean set of clothes and dress him. Put the family ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Then get a prize-winning heifer and roast it. We’re going to feast! We’re going to have a wonderful time! My son is here—given up for dead and now alive! Given up for lost and now found!’ And they began to have a wonderful time. 25-27“All this time his older son was out in the field. When the day’s work was done he came in. As he approached the house, he heard the music and dancing. Calling over one of the houseboys, he asked what was going on. He told him, ‘Your brother came home. Your father has ordered a feast—barbecued beef!—because he has him home safe and sound.’ 28-30“The older brother stomped off in an angry sulk and refused to join in. His father came out and tried to talk to him, but he wouldn’t listen. The son said, ‘Look how many years I’ve stayed here serving you, never giving you one moment of grief, but have you ever thrown a party for me and my friends? Then this son of yours who has thrown away your money on whores shows up and you go all out with a feast!’ 31-32“His father said, ‘Son, you don’t understand. You’re with me all the time, and everything that is mine is yours—but this is a wonderful time, and we had to celebrate. This brother of yours was dead, and he’s alive! He was lost, and he’s found!’” ___________________ What do you think happened from here??? Who knows, that is for you to decide. Do either of the brothers fully realize what it means to wear the family ring and bear the family name? ___________________ OFFENSE keeps “A-Fence” around you so you don’t take OPPORTUNITY to access your inheritance in Christ. (you have opportunity to access a divine inheritance) Offense keeps us distracted from our inheritance Opportunity is in front of us to access true sonship and daughterhood. The Devil wants to distract us from our Destiny. If he can’t do it through waywardness and wandering He will try to do it through offense You have an inheritance as part of the family of God. Many people who are part of the family of God do not live in their full blessing and function and leave the riches of heaven sitting in the bank. Heavens riches are not just for enjoying in heaven they are for On Earth as it is in Heaven Understanding our inheritance begins with discovering the deeper purpose behind God saving you….. To RESTORE YOU TO THE FULL ACCESS OF BEING A CHILD OF GOD.

DYS-Functional Family
8/20/23 Functional Family Part 1 Hey There, I’m Neal Preston. That’s Neal and Amie .com Today we are talking about dysfunctional families. Let’s jump into today’s episode.   Today we are going to begin a series Titled Functional Family. But let’s face it… no family is perfectly functional. Since we have a serious subject coming our way… let’s at least laugh a little about our dysfunctional families for a minute.  What do you call a family reunion for a dysfunctional family?A family dysfunction I called the toilet paper manufacturer to complain about a dysfunctional layer of the product...They wouldn't re-ply. What keeps members of a dysfunctional family together?Crazy Glue Today we’ll be covering what a dysfunctional family looks like and where the first dysfunctional family started. We are going to look at what a functional family should look like and the benefits of committing to becoming a functional family. (God’s family) And we are going to look at one of Satan's greatest tricks to keep us stuck in dysfunction. Offense! Being Offended is the Bait of Satan. What does a dysfunctional family look like?? Mom and Dad are constantly fighting Communication in general is trash Members of the family are selfish, looking out for their own interests.Hate, Jealousy, Envy, Rage and Anger are prevalent Where did dysfunction originate? The first parents decided not to listen to God Satan slithered into the functional family and brought dysfunctionSin, Hiding, Shame, Sickness, Pain, Death (all came from the father of the dysfunctional family, Satan) What Did God do to try to get His family back? He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to bring function back to the family   Let’s look at this passage from Matthew Back Story: John the Baptist and Jesus are family. They are cousins. John was offended and sitting in prison. (Prisons are populated with dysfunctional people, because families are highly dysfunctional) He had a little bit of an attitude and was questioning a few things about his family. Matthew 11:4-6 4 Jesus answered them, “Give John this report: 5 ‘The blind see again, the crippled walk, lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised back to life, and the poor and broken now hear of the hope of salvation!’ 6 And tell John that the blessing of heaven comes to those who are not offended over me.” All dysfunction came from Satan who introduced the family to sin. Because of this sickness and its effects invaded the world. Satans #1 agenda is to make everything dysfunctional. Why? He’s ticked. Dysfunctional individuals make up dysfunctional familiesCombining Dysfunction together does not make functionSatan wants to take away your original function in order to wreck you and the world. The word devil means divider. Mark 3: 23-27 A House Divided 23 And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished! 27 But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. Jesus’ mission was to destroy the works of the enemy and redeem His now dysfunctional children in order to restore them to their original function. What was the original function God created? There were no effects of Sin No sicknessNo death Each person was created to be in perfect union with GodIn a relationship that was healthyEnjoying the days walking and talking with each other and God BIG POINT: One of Satan's greatest tools is OFFENSE. He wants us to get offended with each other and God. BUT JESUS SAID. Matthew 11: 6 And tell John that the blessing of heaven comes to those who are not offended over me.” Through offense, the devil is trying to destroy usOur families And the church…. And if you look around it’s working. But we are taking a stand against dysfunction and saying… NOT TODAY SATAN! We are going to lean into all that God has died to restore to us… FULL FUNCTION. Over the coming weeks we are going to be digging into what it means to function like a family of God. We are going to look for anything that is DYSFUNCTIONAL AND WE ARE GOING TO GET TO THE ROOT, FIGURE OUT WHERE THE DEVIL HAS GOTTEN A FOOTHOLD IN US, OUR FAMILIES AND OUR CHURCH AND CAST IT OUT. This may have stirred some things up in you… that’s good. When the devil gets stirred up then we can target the dysfunction. I’ve heard it said like this…. IF WE CAN SPOT EM, WE’VE GOT EM. IT’S TIME TO SPOT WHERE THE DYSFUNCTION IS AND CAST IT OUT. LET ME PRAY WITH YOU….

"Hand of the King"
Date: 8/16/23 Today's Reading: Quick Read: John 18: 19-40 A Little More: Psalm 5; John 18 A Lot More: Proverbs 6, Ps 5, John 18 Neal’s Lit Word Title: “Hand of the King” Scripture: John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I should not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this world.” Observation: What is God saying to me? Jesus was playing according to different rules than the people who were accusing Him. If He were playing by the rules of the world then He would be fighting like the world fights. Because His kingdom has a different set of rules and is not of this world that caused Him to play to a different strategy. Application: What will I do about it? We have to know what kingdoms rules we are playing by as well. If we are following Jesus then we play by a different set of rules like Jesus did. Rule #1 The King is always in control as long as we don’t take control. We only move or take action on anything when we hear Him ask us to. (John 18:10,11 Peter took control by cutting off the ear of the soldier) Rule #2 Because the King is in control we can trust completely that life and the details of it are in His GOOD hands. The only thing we need a handle on is the hand of the King. We don’t have a handle on anything else. Prayer: Holy Father, thank you for holding my hand in times when it’s hard to see where to go or what to do. With my hand in Yours I find peace and comfort knowing you will never lead me in the wrong direction. #seekfirst I Am Grateful For… I get to hold the hand of the King. Tracker Questions Describe a time when life was very confusing for you and all you could do was trust that God would get you through. Knowing what you know now, how would you handle a situation like that again?
