arry Nemecek is an authority on all things Star Trek, having been an editor at STARTREK.COM during it’s prime, contributing to the Star Trek Communicator magazine and more recently starring as McCoy in a fan fiction production. Larry sat down for a chat for the first of the more regular podcasts back in 2013.

Doug is an all round great guy, having worked in many departments during TNG, DS9 and ENT including make up and visual effects. Back in 2013, for the tenth birthday of TREKZONE.org, he sat down for a chat about his career.

He’s the character we love to hate, from the moment we saw him in 1999’s The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar Binks became the embodiment of everything wrong with the prequel movies and most people wrote off all of the new movies based on this character’s actions.But were we wrong? Is Jar Jar Binks actually the ultimate Sith lord who survived all the way through the original trilogy’s timeline and will be ‘reborn’ in The Force Awakens as Supreme Leader Snoke? Lumpawaroo on Reddit seems to think so, and he’s found some serious evidence to back up his claim. For the first time in TREKZONE.org’s history, I have been in a position to be able to express my sadness about losing those who helped bring a show that I enjoy to life. James Doohan passed away in 2005 and I had worked with a Texas based journalist to provide coverage of a mission to launch his ashes into space, but due to the passage of time that has been lost. Majel Barrett passed away in 2008 and TREKZONE.org was off-line.But with the loss of three alumni this past fortnight, I’ve been fortunate enough to get Larry Nemecek, editor, producer, contributor, actor, archivist and generally an authority of all things Trek on Skype to spend half an hour chatting about how Maurice Hurley, Harve Bennett and Leonard Nimoy helped sculpt Star Trek into the modern icon it becameAs with all good discussion about the people involved in Trek, we go off on a tangent about the next series – but it all circles back to realistion that without those lesser known men – Maurice and Harve – we would not have anything more than the original series to talk about.This will be the last vodcast titled TREKZONE.org Interviews – coming soon (before Oz Comic Con Perth in April) will be a new title.Thanks to Larry for slotting in the chat amongst his busy day with Trek.fm and other podcasts too!
