Eh.
I was once told I would be disappointed if I went to UCB because I’m not “culturally bankrupt.” This show helped me understand what that professor meant. I’m an anthropologist so I was hoping I’d like this show. But it basically feels like I’m listening the two white kids in my classes who understand theory but rather than examining relevant issues or experiences they use it to be the wokest white people in the room. But that could just be the California/LA jumping out. That being said, hey. At least we have pretentious white kids thinking about social theory ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Laughing and Getting Smarter
Talking theory on our contemporary culture could be snooze town, but omg, this pod makes it so juicy and hilarious. This makes me laugh out loud (sometimes startling the cat). I feel like I'm learning theory, current events, and (new to me) slang. It's expanding my vocabulary for talking about the anthropocene and late stage capitalism, and it has a killer reading list. Def not trash.

Possibly not trash
This podcast makes me appreciate Los Angeles but namely that I don't live there. If you love the idea of defunct academics sitting in a room and name dropping as they stroke eachothers egos then this is the podcast for you. That sounds sardonic, but its not. I actually like that and listening to this podcast makes me feel smart because it strokes my ego and reminds me that I have smart friends.
