This week on Trapping Across America we are looking into several snaring and trapping topics. First will look into the real world of snaring coyotes, bobcats and fox around deer and cattle. The trappers has to use his or her head when setting steel snares. There are some ways a trapper can catch the coyotes and bobcats and guide deer out of getting into trouble. Then we will look into a neat trappers tip for body grip trap triggers. If the animal can see the trap triggers, this simple tip will mean you have more fur at the end of the season. Then we will look into the internet, social capital that trappers has to understand to get traction on the internet.

This week on Trapping Across America we have a guest host, Chip Davis from Expand-A-Pans. Chip has a very interesting interview talking about live market coyote trapping in Mississippi. Plus he is a member of a coyote co-op, Trappers working together to have a more stable market. How cool is that! Chip also talks about state trapping associations. Then some ways to close up this trapping season by cleaning up your traps. Instead of waiting to the last moment before prime time this fall. Chip does a great job for us this week. I re-broke some ribs that I broke this summer and I don’t think I could project my voice for an hour. Like Chip says, he is my Laura Ingram. Now that’s funny no matter who you are.

This week on Trapping Radio we get into all kinds of trapping tips and concepts that are in the higher way of looking at trap locations and the way wind misses with lure and bait. We look into having grounded trapping concepts that can be relied on. The we going into a email with a trapper that wants to build a better life with a business and I spend some time explaining what I know about the subject. Trappers normally have more options in their life than they think they do. Having a trapping business should be about freedom, stable secure life and then the money. The interesting thing is that making money is easy once one figures out that we no longer live in the industrial age

This week on Trapping radio we cover many trapping related topics as normal. I get asked a very interesting question. When did I or think I was ready to go into predator control full time. I go into this neck deep because it is such a important topic to think about if one wants to be a paid predator trapper. Then we ask a question about the NTA and the FTA about helping push forward the idea of working with states to allow us trappers to have high quality meat sales to the ever growing market of the wild food and paleo diets. One is a more important thing they could do to drive interest into trapping, because 10 pounds of organic free range all natural pure beaver meat would be $5-10 a pound. It is such a wasted opportunity for trappers today. Then we get in the weeds with supporting a snare to think of in a way that gets a trapper the highest quality catches possible.

This week on Trapping Radio we are looking at coyote and bobcat snaring. How do snares and footholds compare in catches on a line to line comparison. What kind of snare cable is better 1×19 or 7×7 cable. What is the best cable size for coyotes, bobcats, raccoon, fox, beaver and otter.I had problems with my internet last week and the begging of this week. So I could not get the show up loaded. Where I live we only have one company that sells internet service. So they have a monopoly on the service. Another company is fighting to get into our area. Cross your fingers for us, an open market will mean I get better service to upload to my server.

This week on Trapping radio we are going into the issue on deer and fawns being eaten by coyotes and bobcats. More importantly I try and show trappers how they can use this for fur trapping and paid predator control. Coyote populations are exploding in several states. Deer numbers are falling and fawn recruitment can be down 80 percent. That means a land owner is off 40 percent on buck populations per year. This is not a one time 40 percent down in buck numbers but increases over the generation of a buck population. We also look into fur prices. Coyotes and fox prices are up and raccoon and otter are down. What this means and how to still make money trapping.

This week on Trapping Radio we are talking about Airborne Beaver in Idaho. This is some cool American history. If you use a MB550 trap, with the Expand-A-Pan you can turn the MB550 into a true warrior trap with the big pan to get more catches per visit.
