Great Pod!
I love “Kyle hates hiking “ on YouTube, and Trail tales makes it easy to listen on the go. Happy trails!

Great podcast!
I find it extremely hard to find a podcast where I like the host and what they talk about, and this podcast is great! It’s fun to listen to, even if you get off topic it’s about hiking/outside/nature related things and not just going off topic and talking about like randomly football or other things that don’t relate.

Love the content!
Awesome sense of humor, but also so much value for me in every episode! I’ve gained new perspective on what I thought I knew about hiking/backpacking. THANK YOU for such great content!

Kyle does a good job and is a real hiker
Doing a podcast is not as easy as it seems. Kyle does a very good job with Trail Tales. If you’re not into hiking, this pod is probably not for you. But if you have been bitten by the hiking bug, this is a great way to relax and soak in the trail experiences and memories when you can’t be on the trail directly. Kyle brings on interesting guests and his enthusiasm for hiking/camping/backpacking shines through as he asks questions, shares his personal experiences, and engages his guest in a interesting conversation.

Hard to listen to
This podcast is so hard to listen to. Just get to the point. His skills need to improve.

Hey-I’ve really enjoyed listening to trail tales! My husband and I have been backpacking since we turned 50 and I broke my nose on a fall on our first section hike on the Long trail. (But. We stayed on the trail!)We’ve since thru hiked the NPT and cranberry lake and section hiked some of the AT. Next Spring we are planning our first 500 from Springer Mountain. Retired hiking is the sweetest reward and we are perfectly married for 42 years. I got my new trail name on the NPT because I always bring a lemon and after being offered fresh trout and steak on the trail from some local fisherman , they apologized for no lemon to put on the fish and I presented a fresh lemon for our feat! Thanks for ll your advise and inspiration!

Can’t you just be cool…?
I have just started to listen to the Pod after hearing Kyle’s episode on backpacker radio. Although I feel his interviewing skills could improve, I’ve overall enjoyed listening to this podcast. BUT… the titles KILL ME!! Listening to an hour+ long podcast is not the same as wasting 15 minutes watching clickbait on YouTube!! I’m listening while I walk, run, cook, fold laundry, etc. I honestly don’t want to listen to someone get OBLITERATED, I want to learn and engage on a topic and hear the guests opinion about things that matter to them… and the podcast is actually doi NF that! So stop pretending it’s something it’s not!! The titles make it a lot harder to choose what episodes to listen to because… they have nothing to do with the content….

Great podcast! It helps keep me motivated when I can’t be out hiking myself.

One of the top 5 essential backpacking podcasts
There are not nearly enough backpacking podcasts out there in general for my liking, and only a handful of them are worth listening to. And this one definitely makes the must-listen short list. The content and subject material is great, and Kyle continues to get better with his interviews and rambles on and stumbles much less than he used to.

AWESOME mental prep for 2024 👌🏻
As someone who has spent the last decade pushing myself as a competitive powerlifter, and suffering catastrophic injuries with heavy weights on my back (including being in a wheelchair for months and not being able to bend my knees after bilateral reattachment surgeries), hiking has been an amazing new way to challenge my body both physically and mentally. I am attempting a thru hike this April 2024 and Kyle and all the guests on this podcast have been a massive inspiration to me, and have been an invaluable tool as far as mental prep, planning, etc. Thank you for all the content, and I can’t wait to see how far these ol’ knees will carry me. 😊

Funny, informative, honest and easy listening!
I have been hiking for years and really appreciate this podcast not only for the content, but for the personality of Kyle and his guests. It’s like hanging out with friends you haven’t met yet. I listen when I’m driving and not only does it help pass the time and make me laugh, but it gives me insight on other hikers and their stories. Very cool podcast!

By far my favorite hiking podcast
Love the topics, love the guests, a good back and forth between informational, storytelling and humor.

Not bad
I would also like to hear more about the PCT on here. Interesting podcast but the foul language is a turnoff.

Was looking for some general AT hiking podcasts and stumbled across this. I’m local to the ME/NH border and want to start with my own state of Maine. I was happy to see interviews with our local beast Philip Carcia and binged through those happily. Looking forward to the gear episodes and tales of the AT. Kyle your podcast is a joy to listen to, I also love how each hiker shares there “mistake” stories as many snobs lurk in facebook groups. Knowing extremely experienced hikers aren’t perfect is refreshing. I’d love to see an interview with our Littlefoot and her mom from NH if she isn’t on the radar yet. That kid is going places! Also local Eric Todd Sweet, that has eyes only for Washington and spreads so much love into the local trail community.

Fresh, honest, informative,entertaining
Glad for the episode restart. One of three hiking podcasts to wait for, hiker trash radio, mighty blue, and this one. Kyle’s pod is fresh, informative and fun…Strong work.

Got my attention
Long time listener and follower on YouTube. Even back in the day when Kyle had the intro jingle, fumbled most questions and had us listeners questioning if he ate paint chips as a small child. Just kidding.. Trail Tails Podcast has morphed into a well groomed, thought out listening pleasure. Kyle needs to offer more CT love for us Colorado Natives. Shout out to Flossy.

Love it!
I’ve been listening to this podcast non stop for the past couple days and all I can say is I love this podcast. Keep up the good work man.

Great show!!!
Love the podcast! I am prepping for a 2024 AT thru hike and this is super helpful to listen to. Maybe I’ll have a profound thru hike and be a guest one day. I’ve learned a lot about not only the AT, but so many other trails I didn’t know existed around the world. I love the formatting of the episodes and inappropriate language- it’s very real. I also like how he doesn’t bring politics into the episodes. Keep it up dude 🤙🏻

New Backpacker Here
I enjoy this show as a new backpacker, it’s a little more bite sized than Backpacker Radio (which can get pretty technical for newbies like me - tho still amazing!) Host does a great job with topics, questions and moving the show along! Personal comment: My first episode was the Grand Canyon arrest story and I just want to apologize to the guest that episode. I’m from AZ and also a prosecutor (in another state) - that prosecutor really should have dropped the charges; especially as an AZ native, watching tourists act in the craziest (approaching the cliffs) and disrespectful (throwing litter into the canyon).

Great information presented with humor and thoughtfulness
This is one of my go-to podcasts when I’m hiking or need inspiration to hike. Kyle O’Grady is a great interviewer and has a great sense of humor. He doesn’t take himself seriously and he tells good stories. I’ve really enjoyed his forays into mysteries and disasters on the trails. I’ve done four long-distance hikes now, and I know his information is sound. Kyle sounds like he would make a great tramily member, and I can’t think of any higher praise.

Keeps it Real
Thank you Kyle for the amazing podcast! By far the best trail-cast out there. Don’t settle for the imitations and subscribe to Trail Tales. Great guests and amazing stories to keep you entertained on the trail or even when you’re walking the dog

Just pause
It's amazing to hear guests like Quadzilla but frustrating that Kyle continues to interrupt them and interject his own vanilla life experiences. Kyle has no culture or sense of hardship so when he interjects in the middle of his guests telling a story it becomes such a vibe killer. In doing this Kyle comes off as a basic slice of white bread. Just let your guest talk then you can interrupt when there is a pause. Thank you.

Great podcast!
Love this podcast! Kyle and his guests are entertaining and informative. I always listen in when a new one comes out. Dee PS love the new logo graphic!
Professional and fun!
Nicely done
I have watched Kyle’s YouTube videos for several years and always enjoyed them. Although the hiker death videos are always disturbing. I’ve enjoyed his podcast and will continue to follow him.

Sooooo much to listen to
Kyle, thanks for the great podcast. I’m not a thru hiker and I don’t consider myself a great backpacker, but I do find a lot of value in your show. I spend most of my mountain time hunting and breaking trail to bushwhack my way from point A to B to C, etc. I really like listening to your show for the content about lightweight gear. The hunting industry has not fully adopted the lightweight ways but it’s a quest I find myself on yearly. I’ve committed myself to lots of high country mountain pass hikes for next spring and summer and I appreciate the reviews and insight you bring. I also appreciate the humor and banter with your guests, especially Baker. It’s always fun to listen to. Keep it up! Chad

Pretty good
Entertaining, but a little bit of editing or pre-planning would help the show a lot. So much rambling to get to what should be a 10 second question for a guest. Definitely more of a fan of Kyle’s YouTube channel than the podcast. His style fits that platform way better.

Addicting
Great podcast and interesting stories shared between Kyle and his guests who are always genuine people.

Hiker Porn
Not really hiker porn, but I got your attention didn’t I? Love this Podcast to pass the time out walking and hiking preparing for my upcoming trip. Doing the Camino de Santiago in Sept23. I find Kyle funny and inspiring. Keep up the good work, don’t know what I’ll do when I catch up to current episodes because I am up to #75 and I listen to two or more a day while doing my daily training for the Camino.

Awesome Podcast
A great podcast to listen to. Kyle’s style is sarcastically funny. The guests make it fun and interesting to listen to. Very informative in a fun casual conversation about a lot of detailed hiking topics. Keep up the great work!

Over the top, too much negativity
Frequently rags on others, a bit of a smart aleck, inappropriate language. Just no need for this podcast. There are far better ones out there.
