The lightweight landscape is almost unrecognisable to the picture we had just 2 weeks ago. Kambosos' heroics against Teofimo Lopez has unlocked some potential mega bouts. All the top contenders have already thrown their names into the hat to face the Australian World Champion but first they had assignments of their own to fulfil.
Devin Haney had the tough, former world champion, JoJo Diaz to overcome. This fight had the potential to be fight of the weekend and didn't fail to deliver. The usually hesitant Haney met his challenger head on and the result was fire works. Whilst some observers will remark on Haneys defensive flaws, no one can deny the WBC Champions eagerness to land some big shots on Diaz.
Sunday night was Tanks turn to lay his claim to a title shot. A relatively unknown challenge in Isaac Cruz lay in front of him. In a fight that many saw as a mismatch, Cruz surprised the fans by not only making it to the final bell, but producing a display that pushed Davis to the limit. It was later revealed that hard hitting Davis had suffered a damaged hand in the mid rounds, resulting in the inability to stop Cruz.
So who will get the ticket to Australia?

Last week news dropped that current WBC champion, Oscar Valdez had failed a drug test with WBC Clean Boxing Partner, VADA. Since the news broke the boxing world has had mixed reactions. Some defend Valdez as the rules are confusing, depending on which Association is used for testing. Others claim Valdez is an outright cheat and should be banned from the sport. Both sides surely agree on this, this weekends bout between Valdez and Conceicao should not be going ahead with fighter safety at risk! However, as we know in boxing, common sense doesn't always prevail.
