She is currently completing an integrated Master’s by Research in Cardiovascular Biology and a Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Science at the University of Edinburgh. She has endured several surgical procedures and endured many hospitals stays. She has also been misdiagnosed for 15 years with Neuromyelitis Optica- which is a rare, severe central nervous system autoimmune illness that affects the optic nerve and spinal cord. She has also been blind twice, on life support, and paralyzed seven times. Trecia adds that throughout all of this, as Maya Angelou says, β€œBut still I rise!”.
