Tragically, ironically, inconceivably, and yet deservedly, we Christians aren’t known for the kind of unconditional love and non-judgement Jesus showed. We’re more likely to be known for judgement and hatred. When pastors say they’re glad 50 gay people died, people are disgusted…but they’re not surprised. We’ve done a very bad job at being Christ for the gay community. And it has been done for us according to our faith – the gay community, by and large, does not trust us.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Galatians 3:25-4:7New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian,26 for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. 27 As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring,[a] heirs according to the promise.4 My point is this: heirs, as long as they are minors, are no better than slaves, though they are the owners of all the property; 2 but they remain under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. 3 So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the elemental spirits[b] of the world. 4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. 6 And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our[c] hearts, crying, “Abba![d] Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.[e]

Episode 3 of TPB is all about love! Here is some bible stuff:Luke 3:15-22 (NRSV)15 As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah,[a] 16 John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with[b] the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”18 So, with many other exhortations, he proclaimed the good news to the people. 19 But Herod the ruler,[c] who had been rebuked by him because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and because of all the evil things that Herod had done, 20 added to them all by shutting up John in prison.21 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved;[d] with you I am well pleased.”[e]
