Alcoholism runs for generations in Stephanie’s bloodline, it grabbed hold of her in a way she was no longer in control of in her mid 20's. After losing her 18 year old brother due to drinking and driving, being pregnant and in an extremely unhealthy relationship, it just became Stephanie’s way of escaping.
What began as fun times and an outlet ended in her eventually spiraling to a place she is not proud of. After years wasted in shame and an unhealthy lifestyle Stephanie finally woke up, She made a decision to quit drinking on August 1, 2015. She has not and will never look back. Her own life, her children, her parents, her health and so much more is more important to her. She decided it was time to face her pain and trauma rather than running from it, and that is what her life has been since then.
Stephanie sharing her story is a brave act of vulnerability, honesty and breaks through the things she hid and ran from. It is facing the addiction and admitting the control it had over her. Her purpose in sharing is so it may motivate or encourage others to take those steps toward a healthier mind, body, and spirit.
