Reflection prompts 1.) When we are under stress we can often respond by being judgmental of others. Where might you need to confess to the Lord and receive his forgiveness for having a judgemental heart or attitude? 2.) Spend the next few moments asking the Lord to intercede for your needs and those around you.

Reflection Prompts 1.) In this passage Jesus speaks to the brokenness of the world and challenges his listeners to respond in a surprising way which includes generosity, love, and prayer - even for our enemies. As you reflect on your presence in the world, how have your actions compared to Jesus’ challenge here? Bring your response to God knowing it will be met with love and grace. 2.) At the end of this passage Jesus tells his listeners to be like the Father. If generosity, love, and prayer are ways we can be like the Father, what does this show you about the Father’s character?

Reflection Questions 1.) How are verses 3-10, also known as the beatitudes, “upside down” from what the world may call “blessed”? 2.) In this current landscape of warring political systems and rampant fear how may the Lord be inviting you to respond in an “upside down” manner?
