Kamala No in 2028
Don’t even waste our time because it’s not going to happen.

Kamala
I appreciate the show bringing issues to my attention. Today, I’m finding out that Kamala wants to run. I think she the Democrats want to maintain their losing streak and lose again to right-wing Republicans.

Astead Herndon biases are unprofessional
I think a lot of interesting topics are covered in the show and appreciate the differing expert opinions offered. But, I cannot finish episodes with Astead Herndon. His biases color how he asks and the questions he asks. And not just on this podcast. I’ve heard to him across multiple podcasts and it’s distracting and irritating

Sincere feedback
The music during this show, particularly during discussion of serious topics, makes it seem like an absolute caricature of itself. It’s the like the show producers don’t want us to take the show seriously. The “Explain it to me segments” seem half baked. The experts are basically other journalists who heard of experts. The host of this particular segment and many of the guests can’t seem to get through a sentence without saying like. In the regular segments, Sean, in particular seems to enjoy making light of everything which sort of begs the question, if it’s a joke to you, why cover it? At one point, this show felt like a true companion to the Daily. Now it feels like the trying to appeal to high school/college kids at all costs. It reminds me of that scene from 30 rock of Steve Buscemi trying to pass for a high schooler. I hung on for as long as I could but it truly feels like a shell of what it was and, ultimately, like the joke it keeps trying to be.

Extreme Political Bias
This podcast has extreme political bias which seriously undermines the credibility of everything that is presented.

Ugh the host
This show is occasionally entertaining and informative, but Astead Herndon is annoying and the way he talks really grates on my nerves. He seems to love the sound of his own voice, and his own opinions. I think his dream job would be to interview himself every week as an expert.

Unlistenable
All the weird sound effects they insert over their own talking make this a sensory nightmare to listen to. It used to be good, but they went way over the top for … what? Also, when a short podcast is nearly half ads, that’s just unnecessary.
hannibal87
Too much trump
This show used to have much more variety. Now the majority of stories are about Trump or US politics. There’s a lot more going on in the country/world that would be interesting to know about. It’s boring to only hear about Trump’s idiocy all day.

Was it always this bad?
Here, you can listen to diverse viewpoints from Ezra Klein and anyone in his polycule, to Third Way, to The American Enterprise Institute, and other corporate, quietly Peter-Thiel-loving mouthpieces presented as neutral authorities on the will and needs of the people, as they condescend to explain all that ails America, how the the solutions are the exact things that have gotten us here in the first place—it’s just that no one’s ever done it quite right before, and how dangerous it would be to consider meaningful alternatives. You will still hear some competing narratives advocating for actual equality and change, but you can expect those to be challenged in ways typically reserved for guests that are outright fascist. Snark aside, I don’t remember Today, Explained always being quite this bad (it still was never great), so I’m not entirely sure if something changed. Regardless, it’s hard for me to justify keeping this program in the rotation. - Other growing downsides include: Sooo many ads, less thoughtful reporting and more flat boring interviews/lower production value, often uninteresting topics/approaches to otherwise interesting topics

Used to be good. Slapped together now.
I used to enjoy this show, but in recent months the episodes feel unresearched and sloppy. The people they interview may as well be someone they found passing by on the street, full of opinions and not facts. Vague and random comments that are not put together well. Not sure what happened but this show went downhill.

The Lost Art of Handwriting
I would simply like to state that in my belief and understanding of Handwriting, it should be treated and considered a sin to avoid and or become disconnected from. In my opinion it is our soul identity that separates us completely. Your mere signature is your human relation to your personal technical display to identify. There are no two persons that sign in same, your writing can actually show your characteristics, and emotions, and most importantly your mental state at a specific time and place. It simply should never be taken for granted. The “Birthday Cake “ is a perfect example of how ‘cripplingly embarrassing’ this can be. Reinstate or reinstall, and never abort. If anything, the real challenge would be to improve digitally - like minus the keyboard, you already possess its technology. - s.jxn - ga.

Love this pod
Love this pod and I listen to most episodes but the Hasan Piker episode with John Cohen was wild, cohen is crazy and unhinged and obviously a terrible Zionist taking Hasan’s words out of context. Hasan is NOT perfect but Israel is literally committing genocide… I don’t really want to listen to anyone that supports genocide. Appreciate the pushback on him but damn I wish I didn’t even have to hear his crazy arguments!!!

Biased and low brow
Astead Herndon is extremely biased and isn’t up front about it. In the episode with “third way” and noted anti-Semite Hasan piker, astead was lobbing softballs to hasan while “pushing back” constantly on third way, reciting “genocide” tropes, and the usual. For someone so ignorant, astead comes off as a smug know it all. Vox is a shadow of its old self and this program is now garbage.

It was Vox. Now it’s Fox

The sound
I enjoy the content most of the time. But I can’t stand the over sound effect , also the laughing during interviews from the host(s). It feels very performative and awkward.

It’s the production for me
Something about how Vox produces their shows feels hectic. I’m a middle millennial, so maybe this style is geared to younger populations, but I don’t need constant sound effects, cut-ins, or super fast-talkers to stay engaged in topics that already matter. I followed Astead here, but even the production of his show is less enjoyable to me than his former pod.

Nation parks?
Baxter State Park, where the Appalachian Trail ends in Maine, is /not/ a a National Park. As the name suggests, it's a state park. Check the facts, Today, Explained.

Out of touch
I enjoy this show for its investigation into cultural issues and trends. But their take on psychedelics is so ridiculous and so biased against its advocates. Guys, these substances have been used very effectively in clinical studies to show major pathways to healing and recovery. Obviously they are not to be compared with the Administration’s positions on illegal addictive drugs like cocaine. Plenty of liberals agree, ask one who knows anything about it.

Good show, when it’s the show
I really wish they’d stop cramming other shows into this feed as a regular feature. Introduce me, fine. If I want to hear it every whatever, I’ll take the time to subscribe.

Thanks for explaining why abused children have absolutely no power base or advocates in this culture- my favorite quotes “ he was never convicted” so… and “ they stopped the movie before his started abusing” truth: they stopped before reports surfaced- this podcast broke my heart

Already gaslit by pres, don’t need u, too.
The reporting on the podcast, Today, Explained, episode Staged, was so disappointing. The reporter sounded like a MAGA apologist. She totally discounted the thinking skills of most of the American population when responding to our lying and gaslighting President. We can see what happened and draw conclusions that things just don’t add up. Then throwing left leaning podcasters under the bus for speaking plainly with sanity was extremely out of touch. I get enough gas lighting from this current admin. I do not need you all, too.

Gross and underhanded
I am so tired of Today Explained trying to whitewash the Trump administration and other absolute ghouls. They do it in a way that gives you a false sense of trust and then lightly coat just about every episode in bothsidesism and gaslighting. It’s been an issue for a while, but the Tucker Carlson episode and now the Assassination Attempt episode have made it so I can’t stomachs them anymore. So, so gross.

This is why he keeps getting away with everything
Most recent episode was absolutely disgraceful to suggest that there’s no evidence that both “assassination attempts” were staged. It’s not only disingenuous but factually incorrect. I would expect better from Vox but this is the reason he isn’t punished for anything because MSM is too scared to ask questions. Unsubscribed

Would liked a more open minded examination of the false flag op
Not sure why the podcast opted to blindly accept the White House narrative here, they’re usually fantastic journalists (hence my 5 star review.) But they really bungled this episode by not even giving consideration to the wide array of evidence suggesting this “attempt” was at least anticipated and allowed, if not contrived by the White House.

No thanks
After listening for a few months I gave up on this Podcast. How many times can a person use the word “Like” in one sentence? It’s maddening. The profanity is unprofessional and out of place. Whose idea was it to give these children a podcast? There are much better sources to get this kind of content.

Thanks!
Let’s never have Tucker Carlson ever again! Strange editing/clipping mistakes in some recent episodes.

First Tucker Carlson, then the fascist pastor? Did Larry Ellison buy Vox too? Why give these lower lifeforms a platform? Do better.

Balanced Journalism
I really enjoy this podcast as I always thought the guests brought on were very balanced in their assessment, while the facts remained. This is a great production and Noel King as a full time host was a great business choice. She challenges her guests, she’s funny, and never defamatory. The most recent episode on 4/20 irked me because I really don’t think we need to give Christian Nationalist who believe that women, LGBTQ, and POC people are second class citizens additional oxygen. I get the point, but household voting is incredibly dangerous and should not be tolerated. BUT that’s just me.

Great show
Love your podcast. Keep up the great work. The episode with pastor Doug Wilson was hard to listen to. His view of the world is completely rediculous and definitely not Christian . A true Christian supports the LGBTQ community, supports women’s rights, supports abortion healthcare and supports immigrants. And to accuse the Pope of just being political? The Pope speaks more truth and guides people in the right direction. Doug’s rediculous version of what he wants the United states to become would be complete chaos. Pope Leo is a great Man and a true leader. I can’t believe people are dumb enough to follow Doug Wilson and believe his nonsense. Right wing people are so close minded.

Giving Crazy people a platform
What is happening? I feel like I’m in an alternate universe where we interview people who don’t want women to vote and want to put all gay people back in the closet. There was no context given or offering up another point of view, just this man evangelizing his insane perspective. Do you just want us all to feel as if there is no hope? That these people are now the mainstream? I’m exhausted and exasperated.

CONSTANTLY PLATFORMING LOSERS!
Some Christian nationalist, Tucker Carlson, Nancy pelosi are just the ones in recent memory! And then you have AI advertisements. Vox is trash fr. It is harmful journalism the way you platform these people and then BARELY push back!!!! You are cowards! Journalism must be stuck in the strait of Hormuz

Great variety of topical stories
I’ve been a regular listener of Today, Explained and really appreciate the range of topics the show covers. It consistently surfaces stories I wouldn’t have come across on my own, which keeps things fresh and engaging. What stands out most is the depth they’re able to achieve in a relatively short format. Each episode manages to take a complex issue, provide meaningful context, and leave you with a clearer understanding—all without feeling rushed or overly simplified. It’s a great listen for anyone who wants to go beyond the headlines and actually understand the “why” behind the news, without committing to a long-form deep dive.

Like, Right?
Are your presenters capable of formulating a sentence without “like” or “right”? This seems to be unavoidable for, like, young presenters of a certain age group, right?

No More Astead Herndon
Honestly, I skip the episodes he hosts 😢. I don’t like his exasperated style. I’d watch John Oliver if I did.

Take the good w the bad
I’m glad they changed their sponsor ads bc they had some very intense ads. I get frustrated with the ever changing hosts now. They all have their own style, but none of that strikes a super great balance for interview episodes. I think they each lack something critical for that style of journalism. There are great short episodes! I just think it had a better flow when they had 2 hosts not 4 over a weeks time..not to just hate bc I do hear the passion and opinions from the main hosts slip out occasionally and personally I love that! Be human! Have passion! And they try :)

A breath is fresh air
I always hit “play” with glee when this show appears on my podcast list. Sean and Noel and the team are really masters at delivering heavy reporting in a way that feels manageable and light and navigable and approachable. They’re funny, they’re deft, they’re incisive, and I always feel fortified AND really good about sharing this experiment called democracy with you after their episodes air. Astead is so great. I love that he’s added his impressive powers to the pod. I tried to post a review earlier and I think I used too many words to praise Astead, because it disappeared before I could post. So tl;dr Sean, Noel, team awesome. Astead ridiculous chaser to the delectable cocktail that is Today, Explained already. Keep going. We’re winning.

Always worth the listen, BUT….
I was very disappointed in the recent episode that featured Tucker Carlson. I understand the need/impulse not to debate him further but for him to call Noel “low comprehension “and for that to make it on air was extremely disappointing. Also, I understand the idea of having differing view points, but his point of view needs no additional microphones

Tucker Carlson
I really appreciate this podcast attempting to try to get all sides. I really do. I cannot abide by them interviewing someone in the media directly responsible for the skewing of media to such an extent as to falsify actual journalism. I will not follow this podcast anymore.
