Prompted by the rise in anti-Asian racism around the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, Mell set out to research the Chinese history of Tasmania and made some surprising discoveries. By telling the stories of Chinese Tasmanian families, Mell hopes to discredit the myth upon which so much racism feeds, that Australia is, or ever was, White.
