] Dr Edward tells us that hormones or chemical messengers are created by the body to communicate to different parts of the body. [01:10] We are living past our hormones now and we as a society are seeing the effects of what happens when the hormones run out. [02:00] Dr Edward starts at the top and talks about testosterone, it is the get up and go hormone. [03:03] In women when testosterone is highest is when they feel most attractive and they have energy and they feel more sexual. [03:55] One of the original medications for endometriosis was a modified testosterone called Danzen. [04:45] Estrogen is the next hormone Dr. Edward discusses, it is responsible for determining the quality of certain tissues, particularly vaginal mucosa. [05:42] Women complain that sex is very painful and bladder incontinence. [06:40] There are many other estrogen-mediated complaints like mental clarity, falling asleep but not able to stay asleep, insomnia, hot flashes. [06:59] Thyroid is another hormone that is often overlooked but it is very critical for the body’s function. [07:39] He is finding that patients are now sick with euthyroid syndrome, the lab values are normal but they don’t feel normal. [08:24] Thyroid is extremely important in terms of determining intimacy performance. [08:54] Prolactin is another hormone that could potentially inhibit or interfere with orgasm or intimacy. [09:33] Oxytocin is known as the love bonding hormone, it is released generally after orgasm. [10:18] Progesterone is one of the feel good hormones so when there is a lack of it in the system it can really affect the female intimacy portion of their lives.
