Outstanding
An absolute must listen, an essential for all non-Native inhabitants of the Americas. Polished and important podcast.

Powerful
This podcast is equally as captivating as it is powerful. The writing behind the spoken word is incredibly eloquent, masterfully conveying the atrocities First Nations people experience not only in Thunder Bay, but across Canada (arguably native people globally). A must listen

Makes me wonder…
…why we’re focusing on the rights of trans people (they’ve got rights), when the Highway of Tears, The Starlight Tours, the bodies of children, the unclean drinking water. We need to get our priorities straight as a nation. Question everything, elitists run the show, and they don’t care about any one of us, unless you’re one of them. Native rights to be truly respected is long, long long overdue. What an embarrassment as a Canadian.

Wow :(
The investigative reporting/journalism may have been some of the best I have heard. Though I did not know that these occurrences were happening just north of the MN border in CA. The racism and hate that the First Nation people are experiencing in Thunder Bay is unacceptable and disgusting. If there were a way that I could help I would. Not an easy listen. But you have to.

Fantastically done podcast
I’m sitting here in my living room ugly crying after listening to the last episode of season 2. Thank you for bringing light to such an important issue and telling all these very important and extremely heart wrenching stories of indigenous people to compel and effect much needed change.

First rate.

Not Afraid To Publicly Name Bad People 👏
Very well done, succinct, and professional. In Season 1, Episode 4, I love that the podcast is not afraid to name the names of the judges and public officials that were accused. Also-have to make a note that the Constable in Episode 4 is disgusting-the fact that he cannot help but giggle every time he talks about the underage sex workers is appalling and should not be normalized. Nothing about sex trafficking with underage women is funny.

Well done
This was an eye opening look at what Indigenous people go through every day. I am a MN native and am appalled at what is happening all around us. Thank you for telling this story with compassion.

Thank you for sharing these stories and giving voices and a space to those who otherwise would not be heard.

Bad language
When there are more cuss words in sentences than regular words I lose respect for the intelligence of the person speaking. This happened here and I deleted the podcast from my list. Totally unnecessary and unhelpful.

Wow
Thank you for sharing these events.. Hearing stories about the racism and blatant disregard of any human hurts to hear but is so important to listen and spread awareness.

I feel so thankful for this podcast as an Indigenous woman. It stirs a lot of emotions for me. My favorite part being the song at the end. I raise my hand to the creator of this podcast. Thank you.

Engrossing and sad
The writing, music, and the way these stories were told is very compelling. I like that a First Nations person is the narrator. It is also profoundly sad and enraging. I’m wondering if any of the investigations looked at police involvement in the deaths and/or a serial perpetrator.

Show is now about racism
Newest episode goes on and on about racism, “systemic” racism.

👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I live about two hours away from Duluth. The last time I seen those ships going under the lift bridge all I could think of is there was stolen native women and children on that boat.. excellent podcast, you should dig a little into Bemidji MN. One of the most racist towns in the state

This is an amazing podcast. I hope everyone listens to this. The parallels to here in the US are discouraging . Thank you.

Thank you for speaking up. Doing what I truly want to do but cannot.
I loved this podcast. I am a huge fan of investigative journalism. It shakes me to my core to hear people treat others this way, as if they are superior in some way. We took their home, I think everyone has forgotten that. Thank you for this. Ignorance is only bliss when you stop being a human.

Heartbreaking
Listening to this just after reading “Seven Fallen Feathers” has left me heartbroken. I hope the exposure will force some changes in Thunder Bay and throughout Canada. It is disheartening to hear how little attitudes towards First Nations/Native Americans have changed over the last 100 years.

Stunning
Five episodes that landed like gut punches. I live in MN 5 hours from there. It hit home. Absolutely stunning, funny, unbelievable, shocking and very well-told. One of the best I have ever listened to.

Important Podcast
I live in Minneapolis and frequently travel up north along Lake Superior so this podcast caught my eye as someone who has always wondered about Thunder Bay and also who has a lot of exposure to indigenous communities. The reason I gave this podcast 4 stars is that I felt like the topic was a bit disorganized at times. It really feels like 5 topics instead of 1. The last two episodes were extremely powerful and the topic of indigenous communities in Canada NEEDS more coverage like this. Loved the host and his perspective. Wish there were more of it!

Great piece of journalism
This was an excellent podcast. Shame on law enforcement, the judicial system, and city officials who exploited young kids instead of protecting them.

Wow
So well done - the narrative is amazing. And at the same time so disturbing and very sad. I just binge listened to this and can't believe the way these murders and other first nation crimes are just completely ignored in Thunder Bay. Thank you for bringing this to light to those of us in the US. p.s. Anyone else disturbed by the former cop, Andre, who kept laughing when talking about murder, drugs or anything else serious and NOT funny.

excellent and well narrated
highly recommended. critical show that is ultimately about pressing social issues and colonial legacies but through devastating stories. no simple answers at the end - but you are left feeling haunted and devastated.

No regrets!
Canadian’s need to listen to this. Hopefully we can work together to fix the problem of “Thunder Bay”.

Beyond eye opening.
Growing up in the US to a Canadian father i viewed Canada as a utopian place free of darkness. This podcast is so eye opening and brings back memories of openly racist behavior that I witnessed as a child being exposed to Brockett 99 etc. and thinking it was supposed to be just funny but in retrospect realizing it’s a culture of racism towards indigenous people that has always been there and needs to be exposed. Good job!!! Can’t wait for more.

Interesting podcast
I thought this was well done and interesting. Thunder Bay sounds like the Wild West! What is it with podcasts these days though, that they speed up the narrative to the point where you really can’t understand parts of the program? That drives me crazy and I’ve actually quit listening to several because they are so fast that it’s really irritating and keeps me from enjoying the series. This one was almost that bad. Slow them down!

great story!
Wonderful description of that situation. Let people (US) know how close it is to the US, I was surprised to see that on a map! Keep up the good work, loved every episode! Rome

Not what you think
This isn’t just some dude trying to solve a murder he heard about online. This is a personal, knowledgeable delve into some deep stuff by someone who deserves to tell it.

Moving and well-executed
This podcast has managed to tell a complex and complicated story with many moving parts very well.

Listen to this
Very few things make me cry. This did. It made me weep and it made me furious. And I mean that as the highest possible compliment. Listen to this podcast. If you care about justice, you need to hear this.

Reminds of me Serial season 1
Well done. Very much reminds me of how serial season 1 was produced. Crushed it (good thing).

Frustration at mankind
Very interesting podcast. I have spent my entire life on the edge of the Flathead reservation in Montana. Sadly the specific incidents may vary, but the basic behavior of both whites and Indians are the same here. I think public awareness at least is a good start.

Heart breaking
Broke my heart and gave me a little hope at the same time. Too bad they couldn’t continue more and dig deeper into the human trafficking side of things.

Darkly Fascinating
This was an amazing listen. Somebody should do a true crime drama adaptation of these stories.

This is such a great podcast, it’s so well written and researched.

Refreshingly honest
I like that the host doesn't pull any punches in giving these corrupt city officials the honest look they deserve. That community needs to take a hard look at itself and stop being such a disgrace.

Too many unanswered questions
This podcast doesn’t accomplish what it sets out to do, which is to connect the corruption in Thunder Bay with the deaths of the 9 native teenagers. I have some questions that need to be answered before I can assign blame to the town: 1. How does the death rate of native teens in Thunder Bay compare to the death rate on the reservations? Statistics show a tremendously high on reserve death rate, so we need to know what is “normal” for this population to know how well Thunder Bay is serving them. 2. The narrator tells us the teens get blind drunk and stumble helplessly around a town crisscrossed by rivers. I really don’t think it’s crazy to think that’s the cause of most of the deaths of teens found in water. In college towns in the US, we have a lot of young men turn up dead in water for the same reason. 3. I’m just curious to know why the teens can’t be educated in their communities. I’d love to learn more about why Thunder Bay has been chosen to host all these students from such a large area and if there are any alternatives.

Excellent
Infuriating. Compelling. I could listen to the series 10 times and not find all the lessons here.

Sad that no one cares
Bravo to you for reporting on this subject and I hope people continue to cast a light on this subject

Horrifically Chilling
As an indigenous American, I’m horrified that in 2019 the outright racist actions of a large percentage of people in Northern Canada has not been swiftly dealt with by a country that says they openly welcome immigrants. These are the first people of your country, shame on you!! The podcast is well written, easily understandable, and shines a large light on the atrocities taking place even today.
