In honor of International Youth Day this past Wednesday and to continue to nourish my connections to the Kumeyaay Lands of San Diego, an enthralling conversation with Neshaaw Osuna-Sutton as he shares his thrive in resilience story. He honors his home, finds strength in his family, grounds in gratitude, and knows his ability to be mentally healthy keeps him well, rooted, kind, and smiling. Grateful for you Neshaaw and the 7th generation you represent so beautifully!

For our first episode from our new hub in Hawai’i, I interview none other than my first home, my mother, Rachel Leimomi Li’ulipōlani Ka’iama. She shares about her life growing up in Waimea, Hawai’i, how foundational family is to her world view, and the ways she thrives in resilience daily! In celebration of Pride Month and to honor the power that lies in love as authenticity, we are honored to hear the story of my dear Mauna sister Mariana Monasi. From her childhood growing up on the beach in Lima, Peru to her journey to other shores where she found and continues to find her full whole self, listen and let lead the waves of life that Mariana has ridden, is ridding, and will continue to ride in her journey of thrive in resilience. Ola!

We’re 3 months away from my 30th birthday this 4th of July 2020. The world is exactly as it should be and thus I figure I share my story of how my thrive in resilience exists even here in #covid19. Honestly y’all I don’t know even if what I share makes sense in relationship to what we’re doing here, but you know she go! Here’s to e hū e hū in both me and you!

In celebration of Juneteeth 2020 (and because she's currently staying at our house), we hear from my rock-star sister, Dr. Unique Rayleen Shaw- Smith (affectionately called Dr. U). We share laughs, I learn new things, and together we discover the power of supporting one another in our life journeys to be our authentic selves, celebrating where we're from, being present where we are, and having the utmost hope for the future.
