An incredible tour de force by Susannah Lewis and her excellent players. Expanding on the themes, world, and dangers of her Deep Hollow book series, it's an integral part of the Dragon Knight Universe. All the while, some of the best roleplay, table-talk, and game immersion of the medium. This show sets the standards by which other Actual Plays ought to be measured against, in presentation and community. I can't recommend them enough!

So, I don’t know how I found this, but I was able to binge the 3 available seasons in about 3 months. I listened to it whenever I could and I have had more free time than I have had recently. Could not recommend it enough, especially as the plot keeps going, and the wonderful plot weaving is revealed. I had to log into my ancient apple account to leave this review!

I didn’t like the first 2 arcs, but it started getting better until you insensitively brought in a Jewish monster. Please try to stick to monsters without cultural links to oppressed minorities.

Note: Florida Man does not kill monsters here. Instead, a cool agent, a stylish local, and a relatable teen hunt the many monsters the charming yet spooky town of Thornvale has to offer in a show that’s as atmospheric as it is bingeable.

I know I’m late to the show, and I’m not that far into it. However, I recently caught up with the Critshow, and needed something to listen to between episodes. I had heard Thornvale was good, so I gave it a try. From the first episode I was hooked. Keeper Susannah has a sadistic tinge that perfectly fits the game and constantly makes you sit on the edge of seat. She puts her own twists on monsters that keeps you waiting for the other shoe to drop constantly. Soon enough I’m going to have to find another podcast to listen to between episode of this amazing show.

Keeper Susannah makes all of her monsters unique and interesting in clever ways. Every episode has hard choices for the players that leave you wondering what I would have done. The little island chain of Thornvale is the perfect place for a monster mystery show. I also love that the story connects to a book series, so I can really dive into this universe.

There are a lot of actual play podcasts out there, and after listening all the way through several of them, I needed something new to binge at work. I wish I would have started listening to Thornvale earlier because it’s just that good. Guys, thanks for making this awesome ‘cast. Keep up the excellent work!

These characters are great! Top notch role playing of multi-dimensional, relatable characters.

Thornvale is one of the best MotW podcasts out there. Susannah is a fantastic Keeper who interweaves interesting story arcs with terrifying monsters. The cast are great role players with wonderful chemistry. I’ve listened to a few of the mini campaigns and thoroughly enjoyed those as well. Thornvale is a must listen for AP fans!

Intense and playful all at the same time. So intense that I almost wrecked while driving. Susannah has a great mix of fun and terrifying monsters. It is a must listen.

For those looking for a fun, Monster of the Week podcast this is definitely a great show to add to your library. The amount of effort the team puts into this is astounding; the players do a fantastic job bringing their characters to live and the Keeper (GM) has done an amazing job creating a thrilling story with exciting monsters and challenges. She is not a benevolent GM. She is fair. Beyond that, the production is phenomenal. Music wise, each song is carefully selected to bring the scene to life, sound effects are pretty spot on — it is a good quality production and I have no doubt you will enjoy.

By far one of the best actual play podcasts around. Absolutely the best using the PBTA System! Keeper Susannah is the Bees Knees and the rest of the crew (Hannah, Wesley and Andrew) are some of the best Roleplayers!

After 1 episode you'll be reaching for more and more until eventually the bag runs out/you get caught up. Super bingeable show.

I’ve played a few sessions of MotW and run 1. This show has helped me understand the flow and rules, but also the fun of the game. I always thought of it as one shot adventures but love the “campaign” aspect of it and am going to try and use that. Keep it up and kill (or keep as pets haha) those monsters!

Stumbled upon this podcast while looking for inspiration on a MotW game I want to run. I quickly fell in love with the story and the characters. It definitely a binge worthy show! Keep up the great work!

I found this pod by word of mouth after the TAZ:Amnesty finale left me wanting more MotW. I've listened to a lot of actualplay shows, but none have captured that x-files feeling like thornvale does. It's everything I liked about the show Supernatural without all the things I hated. And the production quality is consistently good, even when there's unavoidable technical difficulties. I don't usually leave reviews, but I can tell how much love is put into this. Thornvale definitely stands out from the crowd.

This podcast hooks you in and won't let go! From the impressive storytelling to the relatable characters to the chemistry between players, this MOTW actual play is definitely one to put on your list of "must listens." I can't wait to binge the rest of it!

Some friends of mine started playing Monster of the Week and I've always been interested. This podcast does a great job of introducing you to the mechanics while creating an enticing narrative. And who doesn't love a good enigmatic acronym?
