Hello and welcome back! In this, our first upload of 2026, we jump in with fervor and delight. We’re talking all about the uncanny valley: that feeling humans experience when encountering something with human-like features that is most definitely not human. Though the term was coined in the late 1970’s in relation to the advancement of robotics technology, science and philosophy suggest that this feeling has existed nearly universally, potentially for thousands of years. But why? What did our ancestors encounter that taught them to fear something almost human? Let’s chat about it. This one’s a doozy!
