Episode 70: Cheech & Chong, Doing Time, & Wisdom From The King Himself (feat. Tommy Chong)
When it comes to the current psychedelic renaissance happening today, I believe the age old notion applies for all of us who call ourselves psychedelic proponents that we are standing on the shoulders of the giants that have paved the way for us thus far. These individuals, like todays guest on the show, have not only risked their freedom, but have done so to be able to destigmatize these medicines & allow them to be slowly re-imagined by society at large as the potent & powerful medicines & teachers they rightly are. Todays guest on the show is a gentleman who I, as well as countless others in the world of Cannabis, have looked up to as an icon, proponent & comedic relief within the movement to bring Cannabis out of the dark ages & into the light of awe that it is currently experiencing in the world today. He is one half of the iconic duo “Cheech & Chong”, which for over 40 years has been supplying the world with deep belly laughter surrounding the subject of Cannabis & the little quirks all of us Cannabis lovers know so well with the plant, he also played a star role as “Leo” in “That 70’s show” & along with these incredible accomplishments, he has also gone through his fair share of hardships in being an activist for Cannabis, most recently being arrested & put in jail at the age of 65 in 2003 for selling pipes on the internet that could be used for smoking Cannabis. In this episode, we will be diving into his epic career that propelled Cannabis to a new height of mainstream attention, his journeys with other psychedelics, the hardships he has endured & much, much more. So, please help me in welcoming the one, the only, mister Tommy Chong to the show! Episode 69: The Practice of Microdosing Effectively (feat. Nate Baumgardner)
Oftentimes when we think about psychedelic & plant medicine experiences, the conversation is based around large doses of these medicines to receive insights, downloads & “aha” moments, however, not only is microdosing an extremely effective methodology for connecting with these medicines, but it also aids in the harm reduction realm in allowing people to experience many of the same benefits without having to have an experience that, for many people, could end up doing more harm than good. My favorite part of microdosing is that while I do not feel psychedelics are meant for everyone, applying microdosing techniques will allow for more individuals who are interested in experiencing the potential within the psychedelic space with a safe methodology to do so & I feel that by bringing the subject of microdosing forth, all of us that are psychedelic proponents can position ourselves as the change that I feel is necessary within the psychedelic space to continue to paint a positive picture of these medicines to society at large. Todays guest on the show is an absolute expert when it comes to microdosing protocols, specifically for psilocybin, & along with this skill set, he is also a leading proponent behind the ideology of adding other modalities, such as breathwork, language work, reiki & the like into these protocols to allow his clients to create lasting daily ritual practices that can serve them in integrating the messages they receive throughout their microdosing protocol. He is the host of the “Innate Flow” podcast, which I was a recent guest on & highly recommend & is also the creator & coach behind the “Innate Flow Microdose Immersion” where he assists his clients in creating the necessary structure, framework & ritual practices needed to gain long lasting results for his clients within their microdosing protocols & in todays episode, we will be diving into his journey, what got him interested in microdosing, what his personal experience in micro & macro dosing with psychedelics has been & much, much more.About Nate:Nate Baumgardner raises the global frequency through his energy work, plant medicine coaching and breathwork facilitation. He is an Advanced Reiki Practitioner, an InFLAUX breathwork coach and a Level 2 Enlifted Coach. In the winter of 2021, Nate left Morrison Colorado on a journey to explore the natural beauty of the country with his dog, living and coaching nomadically. Episode 68: How Our Stories Shape Our Psychedelic Experiences (feat. Kyle Gray)
When it comes to our psychedelic experiences, I have found that one of the main aspects of whether we come out the other side of these experiences seeing them as “good” or “bad” is the stories we have surrounding both what we deem “good” & “bad” experiences & furthermore, how we use the information we gain in our experiences to architect & add to the overall story of our life. Todays guest on the show is a gentleman who is not only a very close & dear friend of mine, but is also someone who has been present in many of my psychedelic journeys within the last few years & is a master of architecting positive & potent stories from which our lives can be created from. He is the host of “The Story Engine” podcast, which is a show dedicated to illuminating the role that stories play in connecting entrepreneurs deeper to their clients, is an Amazon best selling author of “The Story Engine” book, is a coach who helps his clients create stories that allow them to create world class presentations that lead to more sales both through his 1 on 1 work & his group program, Story Pro & if all of that wasn’t enough, he is also a shining example of what can happen when we integrate our plant medicine & psychedelic experiences alike to break free of our current matrix in order to bring forth a higher amount of fulfillment in our lives. Kyle Gray Kyle Gray is an entrepreneur, story strategist and author who helps coaches, startups and influencers use storytelling to better communicate their unique value, and create connection and trust with their audience. Episode 67: Entering Psychedelica With Vulnerability & the Mind of a Child (feat. Ben Stewart)
Within the world of psychedelics & plant medicines alike, it seems as though new information is coming out daily in the present day that is laying credence to the long held beliefs surrounding the potential for physical, emotional, mental & spiritual healing through these medicines. For those of us that have connected with these medicines & teachers & experienced this potential, the beauty of this is that we are finally gaining access to the scientific evidence to support these claims & as a result, are further able to de stigmatize the long held societal beliefs surrounding these medicines, which have resulted in them being lumped in with harsh drugs such as heroin & cocaine. Todays guest on the show is a man who has made it his life’s work to not only understand the mechanisms behind these medicines in his own life, but to also share his findings with the world at large through his numerous projects, shows, films & documentaries to be able to empower each individual curious about psychedelic medicine with the framework & knowledge necessary to use discernment in his or her life as to whether these medicines are right for them in their lives. He is the host of both “Limitless” & “Psychedelica” on Gaia, is the host of the “Ben Stewart Podcast” is the creator of documentaries such as “Awake In The Darkness”, & the “DMT Quest Documentary” & is the creator of films such as “Esoteric Agenda”, “Kymatica” & “Ungrip”, to name but a few & if all of this wasn’t enough, he is also one of the most articulate & well versed individuals on the subject of plant medicines & psychedelics alike that I have had ever had the pleasure of knowing in my life. Episode 66: Exploring Psychedelics & Sobriety’s Roles As Two Sides of the Same Coin (feat. Amy Edwards)
As I have often talked about on this show, connecting with plant medicines & psychedelics alike without the necessary step of integration is synonymous with the idea of asking someone for directions & then ignoring the directions they give to you. Without integration, we are unable to fully “receive” the messages our PEAK experiences with these medicines have the opportunity to give us & as a result, we risk missing out on the gems of wisdom that could potentially help us change our day to day, sober realities long after our PEAK experiences with these plants have concluded. Todays guest on the show is someone who has connected with plant medicines & psychedelics alike while simultaneously employing & focusing upon the concept of integration within her experiences & as a result, has not only been able to have profound shifts in her life, but has also been able to “hang up the phone” as Terrance McKenna famously stated, enter sobriety in her life & use that sobriety as the ultimate tool to allow for further integration of all of the plant medicine & psychedelic experiences she has had within her life. She is the host of the Amy Edwards show, which is a show dedicated to helping its listeners transform their lives & become their best & most rocking version of themselves through more efficient & effective habits, mindset shifts & radical honesty & is a radio personality, a mother & a rock & roll musician who has released a total of 5 albums as a solo artist & if all of that wasn’t enough, she is also the author of two books & in todays show, we will be exploring her experiences with psychedelics, what her major downloads & insights have been within these medicines, her favorite integration practices, her experience with sobriety as a psychedelic experience in & of itself & much, much more. Episode 65: Exploring Mushrooms & Their Potential to Unlock Pleasure, Purpose & Prosperity (feat. Bijou “The Mushroom Mamasita” Finney)
For anyone who has connected with plant medicines & psychedelics before, I imagine it’s no mystery that these medicines & teachers have the ability to bring forth heightened creativity, unlock aspects of our heart & soul’s callings & allow us to take an objective view of the path we are currently on & simultaneously view other paths we could choose to embark upon. This being said, all too often psychedelic enthusiasts have these experiences & fail to take action on them thereafter the experience, leading them to either not live the version of life that is greatest & grandest in nature for them &/or believe they must need another journey to be able to access that feeling of passion & purpose once more. I often talk about this as these individuals mistaking the medicine itself as the “sun” or “moon”, with the sun & moon in this example acting as our own intuition & ability to access these states while in our sober reality & todays guest on the show is leading the charge in being able to guide her clients not only into connecting with the medicine of psilocybin in ways that ensure harm reduction tactics are employed, minimum effective dosing protocols are practiced & that they understand that all this medicine is doing is showing them the possibilities that already exist within them, but is also doing so in a way that allows them to have a deeper sense of direction & intention within the experience & a solid integration platform after the experience has concluded. In addition, she is also a master in the realms of content creation, branding, social media, bio hacking & more & employs her unique skill set within the plant medicine space to allow her clients to maximize their creative potential & unlock deeper layers of their purpose in the work they do together. Show Notes:This week, on Episode 65 of the This One Time on Psychedelics Podcast, we talk with  Brand Stylist™, psychonaut, and holistic guide Bijous Finney about:(3:52) How Bijou first got into plant medicines.(13:51) Ryan’s father being a major reason why he’s the person he is today.(18:32) The best analogy for death. (29:35) It’s important to know your dose.(53:25) Where you can reach Bijou. (54:16) One Final question.A gift from Bijous! Follow the link to download the Microdosing Guide for Conscious Entrepreneurs and Use the code HighOP to get $10 off!   https://bio.site/mushroommamasitaBijous Finney:Bijou is a Brand Stylist™, psychonaut and holistic guide specializing in visionary life design for conscious entrepreneurs & couples.  Her therapeutic coaching process is a mix of new age & ancient teachings that support business owners & lovers in the use of psychedelics and healing practices to retrain their nervous systems and clear limiting mental blocks. Episode 64: The 411 On Conscious Cannabis (feat. Ariane Williams)
One of my favorite aspects stemming from the realm of plant medicines & psychedelics alike is the never ending questions that I find those who connect with these medicines ask about life as a whole. For me, curiosity, imagination & awe make up some of my favorite states of awareness in life & when I have the opportunity to meet others who not only share a mutual love for these medicines & states but are also passionate about diving into their own investigations into the many mysteries that present themselves within these spaces, I get extremely excited from the depths of my soul to discuss these topics with them. Todays guest on the show is one of those individuals that when I first met, I was blown away at how many similarities we had, specifically within the realm of how we view Cannabis as a tool for self development & self awareness. Cannabis has been one of my main passions in life for over half of my life now & trust me when I say that the way in which I, as well as todays guest, speak about Cannabis is not the way in which most people view the plant & as such, when we first connected I knew I wanted to dive into her world & have the opportunity to have her on the show. She is a dedicated mother, a committed nurse who has spent the last 14 years working in critical care, is a graduate of the “Connect With Cannabis” program & is a proponent of the conscious, intentional use of plant medicines in one’s life in order to maximize quality of life. In addition, she has had intimate experience helping her father through opioid dependency through holistic means, including Cannabis, & in todays episode, we will be diving into her experience in these realms, some of her favorite ways to connect with the Cannabis plant & her experience with certain other medicines as well.Ariane Williams:High! My name is Ariane. I am mother, nurse, cannabis specialist and native Texan. My dad has suffered from severe chronic pain for over 30 years. When he decided he no longer wanted to continue to cycle of opioid dependency, I knew I could figure out a way to support him with nature’s plant remedies. With 14 years of nursing in critical care and a love for plant medicine, I have been able to help him get the safe, effective relief he deserves.I have extensive knowledge of supporting others in various areas of life. Studying for my master’s in nursing at the University of Texas in Arlington; I have completed the didactic portion and am pending the completion of clinical training. My love for knowledge continued with training in NLP, Hypnosis, Medical Cannabis, Conscious Cannabis Coaching, as well as Psychedelic Facilitation and Integration. Episode 63: The Importance of Rituals In Our Lives (feat. Jason Pickard)
When we look back in antiquity, our ancestors all had some sort of ritual practice. For me, having a daily ritual practice allows me to have time with myself, by myself, to become still & check in as to how my energy feels each particular day & from that information, I know how to plan my day ahead. In addition, these daily rituals help bring me closer to my innate nature, which I believe is pure awareness witnessing this experience we call life & as such, these rituals allow me to remember who & what I truly am before the challenges of the day present themselves & have the opportunity to throw me off of my center. Todays returning guest on the show is a man who as soon as I met, I was blown away at the incredible amount of knowledge & wisdom he holds surrounding the subjects of shamanism, spirituality, emotional awareness, plant medicines, health & well being & much, much more. In this episode, we will be picking up where we left off & diving into the idea of rituals, why they are important, what his tips are for those of you out there looking to establish a ritual practice in your life & whatever else the divine wills into action within this epic heart & soul flow we will be embarking upon today. Show Notes:(4:01) The significance of ritual in plant medicine usage.  (14:35) Check out FreedomBuilderz.com! (16:57) Imagine the reality YOU want!(27:35) Spirituality just means to breathe, and language is important. (35:05) All about LOVE.(49:54) Join the Connect With Cannabis program today! https://calendly.com/highlyoptimized/connect-with-cannabis-discovery-call?month=2022-06(1:05:21) Join the Highly Optimized Ceremony Circle:https://m.facebook.com/groups/1109954333153333/?ref=group_browse(1:17:07) Where you can reach Jason!(1:17:36) One final question for Jason… This episode was produced by Mazel Tov Media in Quincy, Massachusetts.https://www.mazeltm.com/totop

Episode 62: Reframing The Stories We View Our Lives Through With Psychedelics (feat. Jason Skeesick)
Looking back on all of my psychedelic experiences, I can see clearly how each one of them impacted the life I am fortunate enough to live today. This being said, this notion of psychedelics & plant medicines allowing our experience of life to transform is not a given, but Is rather an opportunity that we can open up for ourselves if we choose to connect with these medicines with a clear intention & when back in our sober realities, doing the work necessary to achieve the states of magic we felt within our psychedelic experiences in our day to day lives. It is this notion that many psychedelic enthusiasts forget about & in my opinion, is the main differentiating factor in using psychedelics as substances, versus medicines & teachers. Todays guest on the show is a man who has not only had profound experiences with psychedelics, but has done so in an intentional way & done his part in doing the work necessary in the integration phase after his experiences to be able to live the life he lives today. He is the host & founder of Spear & Clover, which is a podcast dedicated to exploring its guests unique stories & the passion that has fueled them in being able to live life on their own terms & he is also an extremely experienced individual in the realms of finance, business, sales & fitness, to name but a few. This episode is sure to light up your curiosity muscles & stretch the envelope with regards to what is possible when we connect with these medicines with a clear intention & recognize our end of the bargain within the scope of our plant medicine & psychedelic experiences as a whole.Show Notes:(5:46) Jason describes his journey getting into plant medicines.(13:48) Being high all the time.(22:14) Ryan talks about psilocybin.(34:45) Float tanks and psilocybin’s impact on Jason’s life.(46:54) Jason’s life mission… (51:41) Where you can reach Jason and how to connect!(52:47) Jason’s final piece of advice for the listeners! This episode was produced by Mazel Tov Media in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Episode 61: Creating Individualized Psychiatric Care With Ketamine & Plant Medicines (feat. Hans Eriksson)
When it comes to the idea of plant medicines & psychedelics as medicines, it is becoming clearer & clearer that one of the most profound ways in which they can operate is in the realm of mental health & moreover, being able to have the ability to create personalized treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders, aka disorders that include both neurology & psychiatry, such as seizures, attention deficit disorders & cognitive deficit disorders. I truly feel that these medicines can assist in the human experience in such profound ways & that we have only begun to scratch the surface with regards to the potential residing within these medicines to assist in the well being of our physical, mental, emotional & spiritual bodies. Stopping by to share his time, wisdom & experience with us today is a gentleman who is on the cutting edge of viewing psychedelics as potential medicines for disorders like the ones mentioned above & more. He obtained his MD & PHD in cell & molecular biology at Lund University in Sweden & has spent the last two decades holding senior clinical development roles in the pharmaceutical industry in Denmark, Sweden, the UK & the USA & has worked on five late phase clinical development programs for depression indications, three of which have resulted in regulatory approvals for major depressive disorder. In addition, he now serves as the chief clinical development officer at Brain Health where he ensures that the strategies being used are aligned with the promises of the compounds in development & if all of that wasn’t enough, he is also a leading voice behind the movement to look into psychedelics for precision psychiatry to allow patients to stop going from medication to medication & instead be able to have an individualized plan from which to find relief from. This episode is one I have been beyond excited to record as I truly feel this is a topic that needs to be discussed & portrayed in the mainstream as within the realm of plant medicines & psychedelics alike, there is still so much to understand to be able to offer those who are interested in exploring these medicines a clearer approach to do so. Show Notes:(3:18) A background of Hans’ career.(7:34) How Ryan first got interested in Cannabis. (9:03) Ketamine and depression.(15:04) The results of a small study on ketamine.(16:31) Check out Freedombuilderz.com!(19:12) What is the biggest different between ketamine and other typical pharmaceuticals?(21:48) Having a profound experience using plant medicines.(24:54) What are the best set & settings for usage? (30:43) What have been Hans’ findings?(36:09) What are the biggest challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry today?(39:09) How do we make sure the person will benefit from the medicine?(43:19) How would you describe the profound experiences that patients have described?(49:04) Can ketamine be addictive?(52:01) What is the future of mental health?(54:27) Where you can find out more about Hans and his work. (54:44) One Final question for Hans! This episode was produced by Mazel Tov Media in Quincy, Massachusetts.
