Brilliant Heartfelt Important
This Old Tree is one of the best podcasts. The research is superb. Doug Still is an intelligent , thoughtful and inviting host.
Focusing on one tree and its impact on people and communities surrounding it connects each of us to these individual trees. Like the Wood Wide Web itself, these tales nurture human connections.

Thoughtful, interesting, well-produced
Very high quality production that makes listening a pleasure. Doug is a great host who brings in other experts to liven the history, politics, and culture of special and controversial trees. I especially loved the recent episode about “the tree that owns itself.”

Masterful Podcast!
I just listened to Doug Still’s podcast about the Autograph Tree. I loved it! First of all, Doug has such a warm, inviting voice; second, the topic contains other topics within it, so I learned about Lady Gregory, the “owner” of the tree, her friendship with the great poet, Yeats, and other artists, a bit about Irish history, info about the park, its landscape and trees, and the role of women in that era. And it is all developed and presented in a fascinating way. Any listener to Doug’s podcasts will be treated to music, interviews, history, and his overall love of trees. I highly recommend subscribing to this wonderful podcast.

This Old Tree
Doug Still is a tree care professional with many years of experience. Doug is also an historian, a dedicated sleuth, and a wonderful storyteller. By combining these skills he weaves some very interesting stories. It’s almost like hearing them told to you at night while sitting by a campfire. His stories are a little bit like eating peanuts - you can’t stop with just one!

The Wisdom of Trees
I have always been attracted to trees, with very early memories of sitting on roots and touching bark. This podcast offers so much information about different types of trees, historical trees, and the general value of and importance of trees. The host has a lovely, sonorous voice that reflects the peacefulness and wisdom that spending time amongst trees will bring.

Fascinating and moving
This podcast provides in-depth and really fascinating history, tied to and revolving around these amazing ancient living connectors to the past, but with warmth and humor and humanity. The narrator, Doug Still, is so clearly well-versed in the natural science of trees as well as the historical context of their existence, but what is especially wonderful is the way he brings the listener along on his journey of discovery. You hear his own wonder and engagement - this is not a lecture-cast by any stretch. I can’t wait for more installments!!
