Find your voice and create your space Just like my name, I hope that my podcast can be one of a kind. I would like this podcast to be an avenue for intentional and deliberate conversations, as well as ignite a similar spark in the minds and hearts of my listeners. I hope to touch on a variety of issues ranging from critical reflections of my favorite tv shows to my thoughts on societal trends and issues. Ultimately, I would like to use this platform to encourage individuals to find their voice and create their space, regardless of where they find themselves. I want to promote the idea that you should never wait for someone to give you permission to speak up or take your place. When Did I Become Black?
Hello stranger… 👀 How’s it going? I know I know… it’s been a minute… "Few people started their lives with fully-fledged black identities, or even with the acute race-consciousness that they later develop" - Amina Mama, Beyond the Masks This week’s episode is titled, When did I become black? as an acknowledgement of my new found black identity. The reality of my recent experiences is the realization that as a black woman existing in a predominantly white space, I am seen first and foremost by the color of my skin. This weeks episode speaks directly to why I started this podcast, creating a safe space to find my own voice.. It serves as a form of validation to the experiences I have had in the journey of discovering my blackness. Head over to the link in bio.. I promise you won't regret it! 😉 I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording for you beautiful folks… PS. Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe and all the other good stuff. No questions this week, but I would LOVE to hear from you. Send me a DM let’s chat! I hope everyone is keeping safe and sane! ❤️ PSS. Emotional Intelligence
On this weeks episode, with the help of my guest Lara, we tackle Emotional Intelligence and its manifestations in a variety of contexts. In the spirit of being completely transparent, I was very hesitant about this topic. I think deep down I knew why ,but I did not want to admit it to myself. I was almost 100% sure that I was lacking in the department of emotional intelligence and we all aspire to be “intelligent,” whatever that may mean, so this revelation was a blow. But shoutout to Lara for prompting me to discuss this. It was definitely an experience. I have a couple questions for you this week. I want to hear from you, please don't leave me hangin *wink* PS. Black "Friends"
As a society, there is this aversion from “making things about race.” You have people who say it doesn’t always have to be about race. As one of my profs and mentors told me recently “when is it NOT about race.” On this week’s episode I discuss a topic a bit different from the ones I have done in the past. The episode is titled Black “Friends.” You are going to have to listen to find out why. The episode is important to me because it speaks a lot to my evolving identity and critical lens. Let me know what you think. I have a couple questions for you this week, related to the topic and a couple that are inspired by a bible plan I recently read. I want to hear from you, please don't leave me hangin *wink* PS.
