I’m proud to call myself a daughter of California, your sister in Sacramento. In the sample I heard of your book, I loved your mention about growing up along I-80, as a kid, my mom and I would stop at the Nut Tree on our way to THE city to fly kites and go to Ghirardelli Square on the weekend to get out of the valley heat. I love that Gavin has such a wide variety of people. In our highly polarized times, exacerbated by the algorithms of social media, it’s so rare. Being able to listen to someone with a different view, helps us consolidate in our own views. And helps us be a normal human being. Ben Shapiro’s voice sounds worse than chalk on a chalkboard. Yet he has followers. It’s important to hear all voices. That being said, with our childlike president who can’t handle loosing - there won’t be any more elections…

While I have my own issues with Ca, I think Gavin does a good job here on this podcast helping to platform voices many left learners may only hear on excerpts of Faux News. I wrote to the governor that the US has a “young man” problem. There has not been much given to men in the past 50 years. With the rise of the feminist movement (much needed), it’s my belief that many men felt left behind in multiple ways. While I do not agree with most of Ben Shapiro’s viewpoints, I can tell he is a smart guy (maybe even autistic?). By giving people like him a platform, while we may not agree, we are opening a door that was locked previously. Let’s have more civil debate in the US. We can do it - just look at Gav & Ben. I think if we can do this instead of just shutting each other down, American can be great again. Shutting people down leads to feelings of danger and hyper awareness. We don’t need to elevate these peoples “values” but I think these folks want to just be heard and considered even when their viewpoints are extreme. People may disagree, I think you’re on the right track, Gov Gav.
