Smith is the Warren Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of San Diego School of Law. Since earning his law degree from Yale University, Professor Smith has taught at numerous institutions, including the law schools of Notre Dame University and the University of Virginia. Prior to that, he served as a law clerk for three years on the prestigious United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He’s a sought-after legal authority, especially on issues of religious freedom.
