In the final episode of the first series of thinKING finance, Ash rounds off with the prevalent topic of money and mental health. In the penultimate episode of series 1, Ash tackles the serious topic of debt. He speaks about the types of debt you can accrue, the differences between them as well as his personal opinion on each one. As the episode progresses Ash discusses his own experience with debt as well as the issues he sees surrounding people with debt and in particular overdrafts. In the off topic section, which is shorter than usual, the controversial and divisive topic of politics is briefly discussed. This week Ash tackles the Stock Market after it has been so prevalent in the news. Given the metoric rise of Gamestop stock (#GME), it was only fair that a finance podcast discusses what exactly has happened, how and why it's happened and what Ash think will happen next. Have the Wall Street buffs finally got their commupance? Has the stock market changed forever? Or is this a little bump in a market that will carry on largely how it has before? Given that this started on Reddit, it was only appropriate to talk about social media and its relationship with money in the off-topic session. This week Ash tackles the often tedious but perhaps undervalued topic of Protection, or as it's more generally known - Insurance. He covers the different types of insurance and how it works, but also goes in depth on the importance of having the right cover in place. That said, Ash discusses the limitations and why it's the hardest product he deals with as an adviser when making recommendations. In the off topic section we talk about University, and how you may get value from areas where you may not expect.

This week Ashley discusses careers in finance, including going through his own journey from university student to Independent Financial Advisor and all the bumps along the way. We touch upon options and different career routes, as well as some useful hints and tips to get you on the right way should that be the route you'd like to go down. The off topic section discusses "Lad culture" and the potential pitfalls, Ash's own experience and the most talked about meme of 2021. In the first episode of 2021, Ash provides an outlook for the coming year, what may happen with Mortgages, Investment Markets and the effect of further restrictions on people's individual financial circumstances. Given how unpredictable 2020 was despite starting like any other year, a year that has started with mass US protests, extreme weather and third lockdown is likely to be even more unpredictable! In the final episode of 2020, and the half way episode of our first series, Ash discusses how finance has changed this year and what has happened.
