I love the music theory asides from Cameron that point out just how complex some artists can be, for example that chord progression in the chorus of “Helena” by MCR. Just as cool are the lyric discussions and highlights that both hosts give for some songs. It’s also very interesting to hear how artists grow and develop their sound over many years just from small samples played in the show. Lots of entertainment and educational value in this show.

Two good boys doing deep dives on some artists who deserve more attention, and some who certainly do not.

My favorite non-McElroy podcast. Nathan and Cameron are charming, witty, regular-guy type goofs with a lot of interesting things to say about music selections that are rarely very interesting. Listen to two men find something to enjoy in unappreciated music, or start to lose their minds in the attempt. Very funny and thoughtful, you’re gonna love it

I love this podcast! I came looking for wit and solid criticism on the music and I got it. Even after just listening to a few podcasts you start analyzing music on your own, which is pretty trippy. Anyway, this podcast is great for all music lovers, and I would highly recommend it to just about anyone.

I heard your ad on MBMBAM and got excited about a podcast review of ICP. There were only Garth episodes up at that time though, but I ended up enjoying those too! When I first started listening, I thought you guys were going to review a different artist every episode, the thought of that MANY Garth-related episodes was a bit daunting... but I really enjoy the informed analytical perspective and open mindedness you bring to the artists under review, listening to music outside of one's comfort zone has always been interesting to me. The idea of song analysis in general is rather new to me, usually I just hear music and enjoy it, or I don't. I think listening to this podcast has changed the way I listen to new music. I'm really enjoying your breakdown of ICP's albums, I'm not a juggalo myself, but tangentially interested in juggalo culture via an ex-boyfriend, and also involvement with the Homestuck fandom (a webcomic that features a couple of alien juggalo characters). This podcast is just the best. Cameron and Nathan dissect the works of (so far) Sir Brooks and Lords J and Dope with exacting precision and unparalleled wit. I went into this without being a fan of Garth Brooks (the first artist whose works they discuss) and left that season with a more profound understanding of what informs his music and makes him tick - in addition to some good, good goofs. The show's hosts are adept at expertly mixing humor with informative discussions regarding each of their chosen artists' albums. I always walk away from each episode with more knowledge than I held prior to listening (the parallels drawn between ICP's disgusting and over-the-top depictions of violence and those of the 19th century French poet Charles Baudelaire were particularly fascinating), but more importantly I also walk away with a fresh store of goofs, gaffs, and japes with which to restock my chuckle box. Even if you aren't a fan of the music they discuss, Nathan and Cameron's Think Outside the Box Set is absolutely worth a listen.
