How things evolve!
On 4/20/11, Alexis Grant, Careers Editor for U.S. News & World Report, interviewed me about how boomers who weren’t tech savvy could navigate the increasingly digital job market - “Looking for tips for them, as well as insight into the unique challenges they face.” I’m a tech savvy boomer who at the time had a career mangement & HR consulting firm, and of course I said yes.
Today, on vacation, I was scrolling through and updating my contacts, and stumbled onto an entry for Alexis. I went into a Google rabbit hole, traveled through her career journey and listened to this whole podcast over tacos in Turks & Caicos. Now “Lexi,” she’s clearly still into insights and challenges and has scaled those interests in fascinating digital fashion. I love the story, I love this newest business, and I’m going to refer them both to my fellow chapter chairs at the Women Presidents Organization for them to pass them on to their members.
Lexi, I’m a fan!

Wish I knew of this prior to our sale to Microsoft!
Lexi and her team are on top of acquisitions for less than $50M! I wish I had known of this resource prior to our talks with Microsoft who acquired us in May 2021. Maybe, just maybe, we could have squeezed out a little more juice from them.
This podcast is inspirational in so many respects! In fact, as soon as my lockup period is over with Microsoft, I plan to launch another company. If these stories aren't motivational for you to start your own business (no matter how small!), then maybe entrepreneurship isn't for you.
Thank you Lexi and team! 🙏

The stories you don’t hear…
I love hearing these stories that push back against the venture backed Silicon Valley startup narrative! Thank you for curating them! Looking forward to following along.

Riveting!
A look at the business world that only few have had access to until now. Absolutely riveting. Great job Lexi.

The podcast I have been waiting for!
I am bombarded daily with content about founders who raise giant amounts of capital and either fail or go on to Unicorn success. None of those stories resonate for me. I’m a founder of a healthy, growing company that is not following the typical VC path. It is very heartening to hear from other founders who followed alternate paths. I have gleaned valuable insight from each episode (and I’ve listened to them all)! Thanks for this!

Seriously inspiring
This show is one of the best business podcasts I’ve heard in a long time! Authentic stories from clear, real voices of leaders who have built businesses, without any of the jargon, fluff, or ego you find in most business media. I’m a huge fan of what Lexi is building!

Inspiring stories of founders who sold their businesses
A super high quality, narrative-style podcast of business acquisitions under $50m. Equal parts inspiring stories and actionable insights, this podcast shares the stories of the people behind these businesses and how they achieved their life-changing exits.

A show that’s not about unicorns!
Tech media coverage has become so monolithic—it’s only ever about the top five major companies, or else you hear about the massive Seed and Series-A rounds that people are raising. What about the rest of the companies? Lexi Grant nails it by featuring businesses that sell from $100k to $50M, and shows us what the true business landscape looks like. These are entrepreneurs, innovators, millionaires, and creatives making a business and a life that works. The show is inspiring because we get to hear behind-the-scenes of things that aren’t as readily covered in mainstream media outlets.

Much needed stories in this space
Entrepreneurs usually have to choose between human stories or business details, and I love that TGA gives us both. These well-crafted stories get into the person and the life behind the business and still answer all our burning questions about the nitty gritty. It’s well produced and edited in a narrative style, so it’s really about the entrepreneur’s story, not just space for pontification or sound bites.

Must-Listen For Solopreneurs
Love this show because it focuses on the kinds of deals that typically get overlooked. I’m tired of hearing about the entrepreneurs who sell their businesses for $100m or $1B . That’s cool. But what you find is that those people often sacrifice a LOT elsewhere in their life in order to pull that off (e.g. family life, health, or social life really suffers). All in the name of some huge exit. Eff that. Alexis zeroes in on people who are still making life-changing money, but often doing it in a way that allows them to build a robust, full life. They also just seem really relatable. Can’t wait to hear more.

Inspiring stories for entrepreneurs and aspiring founders
Love this show! Instead of glorifying venture capital and hustle culture, TGA highlights founders that have built and sold successful businesses on their own terms. As a founder without a sale under my belt, I’ve found this show to be super inspiring and informative. Host Lexi Grant asks lots of questions that I wouldn’t have even thought of and her guests are candid in the challenges and joys of being an entrepreneur. Highly recommend to anyone that is growing a business or aspires to. Cheers!

Really well-done
I’d followed Laura Roeder’s success with MeetEdgar for years and always wondered how it all came to be. Really enjoyed this episode, as it covers something we almost never hear in business media elsewhere.

Sorely needed stories, beautifully crafted
Some shows speak to my soul with their mission or premise, and some shows are enjoyable, immersive, and beautifully crafted. (You’ve guessed where I’m going but I’ll say it anyway.) This show is both. The focus on building thriving businesses without succumbing to scorched-earth capitalism AND the storytelling and production styles are both stellar. I love what Alexis Grant and team are doing with this and all of TGA.
