Unbeknownst to me and to Dr. Roger, and completely accidental and unplanned, we sit down with yet another member of Ultrajox or UJX. Sheila “Ella” Joves gives us a glimpse into her life in Louisiana, and what life has been like lately for her. Vulnerable and completely transparent, Ella admits to living in the shadows for sometime when life begins to push and bully her into a corner. But you can’t and don’t hear that in her voice. What you will hear, however, is one who, despite lacking sleep, has a renewed outlook and perspective in life.

Look up the meaning of the name, Annie, and you will come to find out how it means “full of grace” or “gracious” in Hebrew. It is the perfect name for a girl — or a woman, in this case — who is kind, gentle and one who has a warm persona. In this very candid conversation with Annie, we’ll learn from her how she looks at life’s challenges quite differently. They are not there to make us bitter about life. Instead, they are there to help us become better in life.

Detours happen in life. We arrive at a fork on the road of life where we are given a choice to go left or right. The problem is, we have no idea what’s ahead for us if we choose one over the other. Lory bravely goes down a path while evaluating her options. She is not afraid to re-trace her steps to go back to her starting line and take the other route, only to perhaps re-take the first route after all then choose a different one again farther up the road. It takes courage to leave a career a few times and pursue a different one late in life, re-inventing oneself in the process.

Influenced by one of our late fellow batchmates to become a lawyer, Ellen decided to fulfill her mother’s wish for her instead out of respect. Although short lived, she found her career as an obstetrician to be rewarding, witnessing the joy of birth first hand. It was that same joy that perhaps helped her decide to take on the role of a mother full time, leaving her post in medicine after only seven years. Parenthood didn’t come easy, however, for Ellen when she found herself alone with her young twins entering their formative years.

Many of the things we do — good, bad or otherwise — may produce an outcome that we may or may not necessarily be prepared to face and completely understand. In the case of Nikki, anything from being banished to being betrayed, she experienced them all, and through the pain she remained remarkably steely and resolved with the forgiving heart of a truly compassionate person. Nikki’s story is about love, respect and kindness.

In life, the only thing that is constant is change. This saying cannot be more true for Edge. It may even be possible that to Edge the world cannot spin fast enough for change to happen. To this day he’s looking not so much to find himself but more to refine his well-being. He has growth mindset painted all over him. There’s a reason behind this, however, and in this week’s episode he shares the reason for wanting to continually evolve. He is not one to simply stay put in life and become complacent. That is just not him.

In the backs of our minds, we knew Dale would eventually land a career in the entertainment industry. And he did, rubbing elbows with several entertainment giants of the Philippines here and there, and giving his all show after show after show. However, life in the his industry isn’t as glamorous as it may appear on the outside, as Dale candidly shares. When the lights go out, things look differently behind the curtains of life.
