TheMumZone is where you are sent to once you have a child. You are not supposed to have fun anymore, you are supposed to be home by a certain time, going out only for meaningful things like work or household shopping. You are expected to plan meals, do homework, hold your man down, be a support system, be long suffering, keep a career or "find something doing". Sigh. Nothing wrong with these qualities except we don't always colour within the lines.

I made parenting choices based on how I had been raised. And it was largely driven by the fear of not wanting my kid to turn out like those in my generation who hadn't followed the rules set by the custodians of the systems of the time and how those people now stood as a cautionary tale for me to make sure my son does not turn out like that.

Which is crazy because I'm a millennial raising a Generation Alpha...
