Moving forward from last week's analysis, we continue digging directly into the primary-source reality of Monroe, North Carolina.Recap & Deconstruction of the Benny Montgomery Case:Last week, we unlocked the foundational catalyst of armed self-defense in Monroe: the case of Benny Montgomery. Gus T. found it highly notable and odd that Williams brands Montgomery as being simply "shellshocked" from his World War II combat service. Upon a thorough counter-racist investigation of Montgomery's 1946 conviction and subsequent 1947 execution, Gus exposed that this privileged Black veteran was attacked because his Racist boss refused to relinquish his hard-earned wages and struck him directly in the face. Montgomery executed immediate tactical counter-violence by slitting the Racist's throat and liberating his stolen wages. We detailed the legendary military standoff where Williams and a platoon of armed Black veterans trained high-caliber rifles on a Ku Klux Klan motorcade to protect Montgomery's corpse from desecration—a telling, pivotal moment in Williams' development that is never revisited in the text and is completely omitted from his 1962 book, Negroes With Guns.The Toll of Environmental Racism & Biological Warfare:Furthermore, we deconstructed the severe, physical impact of Environmental Racism on a young Robert F. Williams. Williams admitted to being plagued with frequent, pounding headaches as a child. He detailed living in the segregated Black section of Monroe that was intentionally blanketed with toxic railroad coal soot and heavily inundated with local tobacco plants and constant smoke.
