Welcome to the first episode of the Youth Climate Chat at the Human Impacts Institute! This is the place where young, dynamic, and vibrant people come together to have discussions about climate change, environmental justice, and the world around us. Meet Ajani Stella, a 14-year-old New Yorker who focuses on climate education with his organization Kids Fight Climate Change and values how HII brings communities together; Meera Dasgupta, a New York senior high schooler who was the national youth poet laureate and connects with the intersection of art, climate change, and environmental justice; Lina Olazabal, a sixteen-year-old Californian-turned-Georgian who knows first-hand the devastation of wildfires and wants to promote the bridge of climate action and storytelling; Mia Reyes, a junior at Haverford College majoring in environmental studies and environmental justice, who wants to refocus the idea of "experts" to all voices; and August Modiga, a South African going to college in the U.S. who cares about spreading climate knowledge and centering youth voices in the conversation. We're young, we're here, and we're going to change the world.

Welcome to the first episode of the Youth Climate Chat at the Human Impacts Institute! We are youth climate organizers that break down complex topics of environmental justice and climate change for listeners of every age! Today, we talk about how extreme weather affects environmental justice and environmental racism, with a lens on how extreme weather disproportionately impacts low-income communities, Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), and women across the world. We look at case studies of natural disaster events in Saint Vincent and Texas. This is the place where young, dynamic, and vibrant people come together to have discussions about climate change, environmental justice, and the world around us.
