EPISODE 8: Hurricane Irene
In this episode I give you my account of Hurricane Irene. I talk about what happened and what we did to get through a week without power from the grid. I also tell you of some of the ideas that I have implemented since then and some that I still plan on doing in the future. One of the things I plan on doing is making a solar generator large enough to run my freezer indefinitely. I also talked about a water bladder that will fit in a tub for storing potable water during an emergency. The one that I was referring to can be found here.

EPISODE 6: Computer issues, market madness, and the GOP wants to go back to the gold standard???
Sorry for the long period between podcasts. I stated in the previous podcast and show notes that I would be adhering to a schedule of a Tuesday and Friday show. My laptop rendered itself useless a few days after my last episode. I did some shopping on ebay for a new to me laptop. I found one that would fit my needs and bought it. I then went on vacation for a week that was planned on months ago while my new to me laptop was being shipped. I explain some of the problems that I faced and overcame to move forward. I also talk about what is going on with the precious metals market and the stock market. Why is the Republican establishment looking to adopt a gold standard and audit the fed platform at the convention this month? Listen to this episode to hear what I think the reason could be.

EPISODE 4: Changing and fixing that flat tire
In this episode of The Yankee Podcast I talk to you about changing a flat tire. I tell you step by step how to go about preparing for the inevitable flat tire. From finding a safe level surface to getting back on the road. I also explain how to plug a tire if need be. One thing that I did not mention in the podcast is that it is not advisable to plug a tire in its sidewall, only the tread area of the tire is recommended.

EPISODE 3: The 2nd Amendment
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. In today’s show I give my perspective on the political rhetoric in the wake of the massacre that took place in Aurora, CO. I play a clip of then, US Attorney Eric Holder from 1995 in a speech announcing a public campaign to brainwash the school age youth of our country to think about guns differently. I also mention the attempted robbery in an internet cafe in Ocala, FL that was foiled by a patron who was exorcizing his right to defend himself by carrying concealed. Please watch the video by clicking here. I have not seen much coverage at all on the incident. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of the victims of the shooting in Aurora, CO.

EPISODE 1:Welcome to the Yankee Podcast!
I have been reading blogs and articles and listening to various podcasts for almost 5 years. Listening to certain ones have inspired me to start my own. I like learning new things and have a voracious appetite for knowledge on a subject when it sparks my interest. I am really not sure what my hobby is. I tend to bounce around and try new things. The things that I like I tend to collect for a while until I get bored or need to sell them to fund my next interest. My site will be changing daily and the content will shift topics pretty regular while still remaining focused on self reliance. I hope you enjoy my podcasts. As I get more familiar with the process I will be posting new episodes weekly and will be working on getting posts up daily. Carl
