Could be great but Lex talks too fast.
I want to love this podcast but Lex is talking a mile a minute. The first time I listened I thought I had my playback speed settings too high. Sounds a bit crazy but after a few minutes it actually became stressful to listen. Slow down, relax, and this would be awesome!

Really helpful
I have listened to about 90% of The Wolf Den archive, all the way from the early days of Jeff's single minded, no-BS, let's talk about the dollars approach through Adam's first forays through his email contacts and then segwaying to Earwolf hosts, and now to Chris and Lexi's easy going walk through the underpinnings of an evolving industry. Frankly, I think Jeff was incredible. The determination to make it a business was just amazing. I took a lot from that, just as an attitude. Adam brought out some good stuff when he was fully engaged. Chris and Lexi I respect a ton, both are super smart and super quick, and they know what they are doing all the way across the board. But frankly, I think the interviews are strongest when one of them is on vacation. The light hearted banter is mostly lost on me. When it is one on one with the guest, the conversation usually goes deeper. I mean that for either host. To each their own, of course. I wouldn't mind if the show these days ran 10 minutes longer, most times. There are usually some potential questions that don't get addressed. My two takeaways are: 1) Basically Gimlet's StartUp took the idea of The Wolf Den and packaged it much better, which is a totally key realization to make about their relative success and 2) Something must be going on with voice filters, because no one's voice on the show seems to match up with the pictures that you see on the web of these same people. Men's voices seem extra deep, women's voices higher. Also, 3) It is amazing how small of a twitter audience some of these major podcast players have. A big time podcast wizard is pulling in like a thousand twitter followers. That almost defies belief, but it is a noticeable pattern. I have learned a ton from this show and I appreciate it as a valuable resource. Thank you.

Suggestion for Lex
Long time first time. I wonder if you have ever considered recording the podcast from Lex’s luxury yacht. I think this would help Lex’s focus, performance, and terrible dad jokes. PS Speaking of which, you should call it a “Lexury Yacht” from here on out.

Great insight into the world of podcasting
As a podcast addict I really enjoy this show. It's a great look into what's happening in the podcasting community, or to just hear what's going on behind the scenes. Really interesting stuff. And if you're not that into podcasts, give this a shot, maybe it'll make you more interested.

Total bore
One of a thousand podcasts just like it. Only the opinions of the narrow scope and knowledge of the guests. The guests are mainly just “users” of technology and have no idea how things actually work.

Do reviews matter as much as they say?
In case they do, I'm giving the Wolf Den five stars because if great podcasts about podcasts succeed, then there will eventually be more great podcasts.

I love the fact that this podcast helps you understand the creator's reason for starting the podcast, their mission and who they see as their demographic. It's a great behind the scenes look at your favorite podasts.

The Podcast Company Play Book
Wolf Den is one of my favorite podcasts. I've shamelessly used this podcast to aid in the creation of my own podcasting company. They're like my secret business advisors but don't even know it!

Fascinating stuff
I'm not a podcaster or in anyway connected to the entertainment business (I'm a social worker) and I still found this fascinating! Great show. I hope it returns at some point as I would like to hear more!

Always Getting Better
I've been hooked on The Wolf Den since the beginning, but Jeff outdid himself with the recent episode with Dave and Greg from Walking The Room. In-depth breakdown on the philosophy of podcasting and what, if anything, is the reciepe for success. IF you care about podcasting, you need to listen to The Wolf Den. Well done, Jeff!

Intelligent discussions for anyone interested in media
How will Earwolf become profitable? As Jeff asks incredibly talented and experienced people how to achieve this goal, you learn a lot about how to run and grow a digital media startup. Even if you don't care about comedy, this is a great case study for any entrepreneur trying to figure out how to monetize content that used to reside on cable, newspapers or radio. Thanks Jeff. Please keep sharing, especially when you record internal meetings such as the website talks. Let's hope eardrop changes the world.

Love Jeff, Love the Show
This show inspired me to create my own podcast, and I'm having the time of my life doing it. I have to thank you, Jeff, for this show and now for helping me find my favorite activity. I live in the middle of nowhere and there's really no creative outlet here. But podcasting and the Internet has allowed me to reach dozens of people who enjoy my show, and I wouldn't have that if it weren't for the Wolf Den. Keep making this, Jeff. It's wonderful.

Incredibly useful information
If you have any interest in podcasting or digital media, The Wolf Den is seriously required listening. I write for a small entertainment website and I've learned a lot listening to Wolf Den (if only my boss took my suggestions).

Podcasts-- A Digital Frontier
These are the voyages of Jeff Ullrich's Earwolf enterprises. Its mission to explore comedy content, to seek out new talent and formats, to boldly discuss inherent business challenges of this media platform. Worth listening to as the medium evolves.

This review is for you Jeff!! First off.....this show is awesome. Earwolf has enriched my life and this show helps me to feel more connected with the process of the growth of Earwolf and well as aware of the worries that keep Jeff up at night. We love what you are doing Jeff, keep it up!

A special thing
The Wolf Den is an articulation of everything great about podcasting: their ability to spin golden content out of thin air. What Earwolf CEO and Co-Founder Jeff Ullrich has done here is living proof of the old adage "You can turn any weakness into a strength." Jeff put all of his warchest into starting a comedy podcasting network, and frontlined his focus on creating quality programming. Once he did this (and sweet Jesus did he succeed, have you seen their dozens of completely free, high quality shows that are churned out on the regular?), he was determined to find a way to make money with it without inserting slapdash, awkward, quality-harmful advertising. He knows a lot about finance and business operation, but didn't feel as comfortable dive bombing neon signs all over his network's dedicated fanbase. He was stuck. And what do you do when you have something you know a lot about, want to know even more about, and are filled with a burning desire to talk about? You start a podcast. Enter The Wolf Den, an interview show about business practices in podcasting specifically and in general about today’s world of new media money-making, marketing and best practices. He structures his show as a Marc Maron of a different kind, because where Maron uncovers the personal stories behind people who make their lives as characters, Jeff Ullrich uncovers the ways people think and act in order to navigate the ever-changing economic climate. Like Chris Hardwick, Jeff has the ability to hone in on things people know a lot about but aren’t ever asked to talk about. He provides an outlet for people who have interesting things to say but who never speak because “business talk is boring.” The Wolf Den is not only a show for people who want to be media savvy, but it’s also for people who want to know more about their fellow man. You don’t know a person if you just hear their life story and see their work, but you can begin to when you understand how they approach making a life for themselves, how they approach security, their time and their future. Jeff Ullrich provides a service I didn’t even know I needed, and one that has fleshed out comedians and prolific figures in a way I never thought possible. More than anything, I feel smarter listening to this show. And there’s nothing in this world I want more than to keep evolving. Andy Rooney once said “I’ve learned that the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.” Right up there with This American Life, The Film Talk and the shows of Twit.Tv, The Wolf Den is a show that makes me feel privy to high level thinking and thoughtful conversation I yearn for in my life that is, by some magic I don’t understand, provided to me free by good, committed, talented people who decided to start a podcast. Episodes 11-14, 23, 25 and 32 are great places to start, but the whole anthology paints a compelling picture of a new industry, a new medium, fighting to be heard. It’s a story well told and a ship well captained by Jeff as he goes through victories and defeats on the path to a better business model. Do keep on podcasting, Jeff. You’re a public service.

The business of podcasting
I love Comedy Bang Bang and several other Earwolf podcasts. Jeff is the man behind the curtain, helping the shows thrive and the business side of podcasting grow. I like hearing about the challenges and successes of Earwolf and the great interviewees such as Matt Belknap, Marc Maron, Paul F. Tompkins, and Jesse Thorn. I really appreciate that the talent on AST, Earwolf, and other podcasting 'networks' seem to share the camaraderie behind the scenes that plays so well on their shows in an effort to take podcasting to the next level. Keep it up Jeff and the rest of the Earwolf team! Jeff's podcast continues to evolve as his array of guests widens. I really like hearing him vent (at least talk through) some of the network's issues, like store sales, as he tries to navigate his way through uncharted territory. I look forward to seeing Earwolf gain even more of a fanbase once the Funny or Die deal is implemented.

Podcast geeks rejoice!
The Wolf Den is one of those shows that podcast geeks can rejoice over- Earwolf CEO Jeff Ullrich has on great guests and lets folks into the 'behind the scenes' of the life of a podcast network. If you're interested at all in how your favorite shows came to be and how they function on another level, beyond the comedy, this show is a must listen for you.

A great way to learn the hardships of running a podcast network.
To listen to Wolfden is to listen to the ups and downs of a man who almost seems over his head in a new medium. Yes, Earwolf is a comedy podcasting network, but you wont really find humor here. You will find helpful hints, heartache, and stories of people really making it in this new world. I really enjoy comedians coming in and telling what works and fails with their own podcasts. As Earwolf grows, so does Jeff as a host. A great listen!

Alright already!
I love your show! It's funny AND informative. Of course I listened to the PF Tompkins and Maron casts first but the others have all been great too. Thank you, Jeff!

Amazing
Great podcast to listen between other earwolf shows. Hope earwolf live is in planning stages. Would love to be in the audience during your shows. Think it's great you're focused on your hosts.

Good Podcast.
This is an interesting look at the brand new world of podcasting given by Jeff Ulrich. A fun game is to take a drink whenever you hear Jeff say Awesome, or amazing.

A look behind the scenes at the best in podcast network
I love behind-the-scenes stuff, so it's great to hear Jeff talk about what it's like running Earwolf. I'm really rooting for Earwolf to succeed and Jeff should give himself a bit more credit.

Thanks Jeff
If you really do just stare at these reviews, thanks for two things. The Wolf Den is cool, thanks for providing that perspective. Just listened to the Chris Hardwick episode and am listening to the PFT episode as i write this (while at work). The second thanks is for All of Earwolf. I started listening to Comedy Death Ray Early on, and love the fact that it is growing so much. How Did this Get Made, Eardrop, affirmation nation ,0and everything else is all great stuff. Who Charted is the greatest! Thanks twice.

Great behind the scenes podcast
I listen to a number of podcasts, including most of Earwolf's shows, and I enjoy this show because it pulls back the curtain of what it takes to produce these shows. Be warned: even though they discuss the comedy podcasts they produce, it is not meant to be funny. Even so, I found the Paul F. Tompkins episode to quite funny and entertaining.

Unexpectedly helpful
I wasn't sure what to expect with this podcast, however I am currently planning out a college radio show and the advice from guests (especially Jesse Thorne and Paul F. Tompkins) has been invaluable. I'd recommend this for anyone interested in the makings of the radio/podcast world. Jeff, if you read these, advertise this show on other earwolf shows. I listened to CDR/CBB for a year and a half and had no idea this show existed until I downloaded the earwolf app. All in all, like most earwolf shows, it's amazing.

A super fan of the superfans
I started listening to the show on Ep24. It was neat to hear fans perspectives of comedy podcasting. I was very impressed with how eloquent the guests are. I think it would be nice to have them on again in the future, and have it be like a roundtable discussion of different topics from the fans points of view. Or maybe have one or all of them on with comedian podcasters and have a discussion between Jeff, the comedian, and the superfans. They were all very engaging and brought unique stories to the show. I liked the woman's point of view. She was a good choice to speak on behalf of the woman fans.

The Wolfden
Between the interesting guests and the easygoing conversational style, the Wolf Den is a solid podcast. I would add, however, that it's mostly for people who are really serious about Podcasts or Earwolf, because Jeff Ulrich keeps the discussion pretty focused on those topics.

In Depth Discussions About the Business of Podcasting
I don't know of any other shows doing the same level of discussion and analysis of the business of podcasting. A good mix of guests, topics and often actual metrics make The Wolf's Den a stand out show. And, regardless if you're trying to generate revenue, it's a must-listen.

Podcasting about Podcasting and Why I Love It
I've been listening to podcasts forever. Generally the comedic ones out of L.A. (CDR Radio (now Comedy Bang Bang), Never Not Funny, Doug Loves Movies, Jordan Jesse Go, The Nerdist, among many others), and I have to say I've become a bit of a podcast nerd. One of my favorite parts of all of these shows is when they inevitably (and yes, they all do it at some point) break off from the normal funny conversation and talk about podcasting itself. It's fascinating, the whole buisness aspect of it and how to monetize it and the logistics behind everything. Podcasting is very much in the experimental stage, even if it is popular in several spheres. I love The Wolf Den because it takes that insider podcasting business talk and condenses it into a podcast solely dedicated to that purpose. The guests are trailblazers in this field and Jeff does a wonderful job as host. I recognize that this show isn't for everyone; it's targeted toward people who love this one aspect of podcasts. If you're as into podcasting as I am, however, I can't recommend The Wolf Den enough. It's shows like this and networks like Earwolf that push podcasting in the forward direction that it deserves to move toward. This show is informative, entertaining, funny, and awesome. Give it a listen. Five stars for being an extremely unique show that provides me with my inside look into a side of the podcasting world that is talked about vaguely on most podcasts but never condensed into one awesome podcast. Thanks, Jeff and the Earwolf crew, and keep up the good work.
