To several among The Wildcards crew, Role Playing (video) Games - or "RPGs" - are a sacred source of adventure and nostalgia. Whether it's a standalone title or a beloved franchise, each Wildcard reserves segments of their heart for those kinds of video-gaming experiences that encourage players to fill the shoes of a low-level identity and gradually transform them into a custom-built world-beating icon that nevertheless still represents a portion of the player that developed them.
With so many classic titles within the genre, The Wildcards quickly realized that there was no way they could all agree on the BEST RPG of all time. Just the idea of sitting down to debate the topic got the Deck thinking: could they even agree on a top 10?
Spoiler Alert: Absolutely not... and The Wildcards are willing to wager that YOU won't either!
Come along on a wild world-blending adventure as first-time Judge and conversation moderator Robben Stever finds himself in the middle of the most heated debate in The Wildcards' history to date! Though he's not habitually a role-playing player, Robben has plenty of knowledge to draw from Dan Harrow, James Koch, and Warren Sprague as they take turns Drafting their favorite RPGs into a collective list more bizarre than any of its kind!
You Wild Things will no doubt scoff at which games make positions 10-4 in this first episode of two. With the top three games to be debated in heavy detail and ranked in part two, to be released next week!
