Sunday Funday: Presented By The Wildcards' Podcast
Hey there, Wild Things! James Koch here! As the first season of the Wildcards' Podcast sits here on Buzzsprout for you to sink your teeth into, I look back on all these awesome chats I've enjoyed with my buds  and feel a lot of gratitude. Robben Stever, Dan Harrow, Dillon Rodriguez,  and Warren Sprague all worked really hard on making this content special and enjoyable. We've had a ton of fun talking about all types of different things for you guys. Whether its video games, action sports, music, or pro-wrestling, we've covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time; and it  couldn't have been done without your support. We will be back with a second season all too soon, we promise! We have logos on the way to help give us a more official look, and we are considering buying some tech to help us sound a bit clearer. A multi-mic setup anyone? You know we want it! Anyway, to celebrate the fun that was our first season, I sifted through all our soundchecks and found some tidbits that I think summarize what we're all about. Enjoy a few mild-mannered jabs aimed at my recording cohorts, friends, and stay tuned for details on season two!  As always, we ask you share your thoughts on what worked this first season and what you want to hear more or less of by emailing us at [email protected], by visiting us on Twitter @wildcardsthe, or on Instagram at @wildcardspodshow. We really value the input and interaction, and you can go a long way to helping us hone ourselves into the most polished podcasting producers we can be! Thanks in advance for sharing your perspective! With the Wildest of Regards, JK

The Wildcards Courthouse: Playlisting Their Most Embarrassing Guilty Pleasures
Recorded February 19th, 2021The Wildcards Podcast Family needs to get this part out of the way immediately:The Wildcards DO NOT claim the rights to any of the music they utilized or vocalized in the making of this podcast. Cool, now that THAT'S out of the way...Who's ready to laugh at The Wildcards' expense? We just knew you would be! This week, the Core Deck returns to The Courthouse format, but this time they're not drafting their topics of discussion... They're not THAT innocent...  ... You see, every Wildcard has guilty pleasures, and most especially in the realm of music. Some, like Robben Stever, have numerous visceral reasons why they might latch onto a track.Others, like James Koch, like to find inspiration in family and loved ones. Another, Warren Sprague, finds himself attracted to the types of genres he knows he's not supposed to connect with as easily as he does. And then... there's Dan Harrow, who prefers to keep his cards so close to his chest that he volunteered to take the bench as the official Judge of this recording's proceedings.   Whether it's crass lyrics, delicate tones, or a failure to withstand the test of time, The Wildcards have come to court armed with  songs bearing potentially off-putting characteristics. Why?Because for this court session,  Judge Harrow is hunting for only the most Embarrassing guilty pleasures. Which selections will have you dancing in your seat? Which ones will have you laughing every time their melodies resound in your head? Which tunes will will turn off our judge without an appeal to be offered? Which Wildcard will emerge the most guilty; doomed to face a punishment most embarrassing in itself?  ... and since when is innocence a bad thing, anyway? The answers to (the majority of) these questions and SO MUCH MORE lie within this hilarious diary-entry-turned social-extortion  we call The Wildcards Podcast!   The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy! The Wildcards' Wrestling Corner: Elimination Chamber 2021
Recorded February 23rd, 2021The  Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View; an annual night of professional wrestling that has the potential to turn the wrestling world on its head right before the biggest show of the year. Quite frankly, WWE did just that with their 2021 iteration, providing a (generally) unpredictable evening with (relatively) respectable results. Each of the evening's two chamber matches included six brave superstars; each prepared to battle it out for the honor of appearing at - or headlining - Wrestlemania. In honor of that fact, The Wildcards Podcast assembled its own unprecedented Deck of 6 contributors to dissect the festivities:Warren Sprague -The biggest wrestling nerd ever. We'd say this with love, but we can't. He roots for everyone. His enthusiasm for even the least popular characters is obnoxious. James Koch- Sitting down for only his second wrestling Pay-Per-View event in his recollection, James is on board with all of the most athletic performers, the most brutal battle strategies, and the amazing skills of today's female wrestlers.Dan Harrow- He's watching with the intent to analyze; perhaps for his first time ever. He caught our Royal Rumble episode last month and decided he was curious enough to step through the proverbial ropes of wrestling fandom and see if there's any reality behind the pathos. Tiffany Hendrix - She's dating the wrestling nerd. Seriously; we don't get it, either. However, she has found a way to love this form of athletic theater all on her own... whether it's Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, or some other ideally-crafted "way"...Sam Tate- Making his second appearance on a wrestling-related Wildcards' Podcast production, Sam's encyclopedia of wrestling understanding stretches beyond that of most... but that makes him especially difficult to entertain. Could any superstar tame the scrutinizing Samuel?Tara Caldwell-  Making her first ever appearance as a Wildcards' Podcast contributor, Tara speaks to feminine wrestling fanatics everywhere. Her love for the business is as deep as it gets, and she has absorbed a ridiculous amount of wrestling trivia to prepare her for this new role of Wildcard wrestling analyst. With each of the spectators squarely locked into the Chamber, tune in to hear about every major impression and take away from the show! How does Dan fair in his first foray into wrestling since his childhood? Can Tiffany maintain her grappling interest in the face of relatively wacky wrestling storytelling tropes? Which performers, matches, and moments left our Wildcard contributors craving more? ... and Just how outdated is this recording already? Tune into this week's Wildcards Podcast to appreciate the perspective, participate in the pontificating, and saturate in  the speculation of what has and will occur on this year's Road to Wrestlemania. The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy! The Wildcards Present: Is The Mic On? Episode 2
Recorded on 2/25/21Hey Wild Things! Dastardly Dan here, with another chilled out episode of 'Is The Mic On?'!After the release of episode one, The Wildcards were shocked I would upload an episode of their conversations without their knowing. Equally, they were certain I would do it again. And they were right, clearly. But! Would they expect the second episode nearly a month after the first, without warning or circumstance? I think not!Hot tip; if you want to distract Robben "Follow The Yzerplan" Stever for an extended period of time, sit him down in front of a Red Wings hockey game. Bonus points if it's 2-2 in the second period. Before long, he'll be inevitably flanked by Dillon "The Joker" Rodriguez and Dan "The Dastard" Harrow for some fast-paced, no-nonsense sports conversation. But this week, the Wildcards are joined by Lakers/Dodgers/Cowboys/Kings fan, Mikey "Jerry Jones Jr." Collins, making his Wildcards debut! With Mike's help, will the boys be able to catch Dan in the act of recording them without their consent!? (*cough*onepartyconsentislegalinnevada*cough*) Join these Fantasy Sports General Managers as they plead with each other on fantasy trades, argue endlessly on trades in reality and speculate without concern on trades they wish would happen. So turn on a game, crack an adult beverage, sit back and enjoy, 'Is The Mic On?'!!!The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy! The Wildcards Gaming Gauntlet Championship: 2019 Vs. 2007
Recorded February 10th, 2021,Wildcards Gaming Gauntlet Championship ChatJames Koch (w/2019) Challenges Dan Harrow (w/2007) What is the BEST YEAR in video gaming history?Just barely over a month ago, Wildcard Dan Harrow became the inaugural Wildcards Gaming Gauntlet Champion when he wowed the recording referee  Warren Sprague with his iron-clad argument for the year 2007. By coaxing such a historic accolade out of a seemingly casual conversation, "Dastardly" Dan Harrow was born.   Of course, this was much to the chagrin of the only other person present at the recording, bon-a-fide gaming aficionado James Koch. Feeling entirely mistreated by his Wildcard cocreators, James spent the next four weeks planning his first counter-argument... one he hopes will be capable of talking the beautiful new belt away from "His Harrowness".   On this week's Wildcards Podcast, James takes his intensely-researched conversational combat strategy straight to the Champ with the year 2019 in mind, an argument that no one else was aware of at the time of recording.  Presiding over the conversation as oration-officiate once again is Warren Sprague, whose ability to remain unbiased seems questionable. What video games has James prepared to argue for in his effort to Koch his competition? Can they go toe-to-toe with hallmark titles like Halo 3, Bioshock, and the original Mass Effect? What loopholes will James attempt to employ in his hunt to quench his championship-caliber thirst?  Will any of his potent plans backfire in his face? And of course:  who will emerge victorious, the Wildcards' Gaming Gauntlet Championship in their grasp? All these questions and more are answered (after a completely ridiculous amount of hype) on this week's episode of The Wildcards' Podcast! The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy! The Wildcards Predict The 2021 MLB Regular Season
Recorded February 9th, 2021,Hey, America! Are you stuck at home, destined to eventually be bored by everything you could possibly do around the house? Are you searching for a sport to watch on television while you wait for the opportunity to go see one live? Are you simply hoping for a captivating way to pass time? If the boldness of our word choice is lost on you, than allow The Wildcards to point out that it's almost time for the 2021 Major League Baseball (MLB) Regular Season! That's right! Bats will be swung, strikeouts will be recorded, spectacular catches will occur, and umpires will be cussed-out from couches across our great nation. Baseball is back, Wild Things! And truth be told, there might not be a collection of podcasters more hungry for nine innings of baseball action than who The Wildcards assembled to record this anticipatory episode. What's that, you say? You haven't kept up with the offseason moves that have shaken up the face of the League, as well as several of its vaunted franchises? Have no fear, for Dan "My Mets Are Perpetually Overlooked" Harrow, the master of all of sports' offseason synopses is here to help guide you through what you've been missing; and he's brought with him California baseball specialist Robben  "Who's Your Padre?" Stever, and longtime Los Angeles Dodger (he's been hiding out here in Las Vegas) Dillon "Seriously, I'm A Dodger Fan" Rodriguez! Combined, these three grizzled (or not so grizzled... sorry, Robben) vets of the batter's box are more than prepared to pull our audience through every wacky divisional prediction, every ridiculous World Series claim, and every over-the-top end-of-year award recipient imaginable... but they also might make reasonable predictions, depending on your own perspective. Counting on this knowledge to make sense of the upcoming season is Warren Sprague, who finds himself often overwhelmed by how passionate his podcast cohorts are about a sport he's begging to rediscover an honest interest in. Will Warren find a reason to be excited about the upcoming season? Which division within the League does our Wildcards generally refer to as "Doo Doo"? Which teams do we Wildcards predict will be playing baseball in October... a month that matters in baseball, apparently? Which players are projected to take home season-end accolades? The answers to these questions and more load the bases of this, the latest episode of The Wildcards Podcast! The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy! The Wildcards' Wrestling Corner: Royal Rumble 2021
Recorded January 31th, 2021There comes a time in every Wildcard's life that they must call the bluff, lay all the cards on the table, and pray they don't get washed out on the River. That time arrived for Wildcard Warren Sprague when he checked his hand of upcoming potential podcast topics back at the beginning of the year... and remembered that the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble was quickly approaching. A lifelong professional wrestling fan before he even knew what it was called, Warren pitched to the rest of the Deck the idea of introducing them all to a turbulent world of physical theater that no one Wildcard could truly be ready for. With most of the Wildcards spending the night of the event taking inventory and counting their losses, it was James Koch who answered the call to experience exposure to what Warren claimed to be "the most entertaining evening of wrestling of the whole calendar year". James had no idea what Warren was Koching... With a passion for pro-wrestling reminiscent of James' love for action sports, Warren couldn't wait to educate his casting cohort about the moments, maneuvers, and mat performers that make the Royal Rumble - and the industry in general - so special. To aid in the cause, Warren brought in former co-caster and good friend Samuel Tate, who makes his first - and most likely not his last - appearance as a Wildcard contributor on this episode!  Also providing more punch to the pro-wrestling prose is Casino Floor alumni Tiffany Hendrix, whose unique status as "woman who tolerates wrestling" makes her an especially fascinating listen.  Join this unlikely four-corners of conversation as they step between the ropes and react to the Rumble itself, but not before priming James and Tiffany for the most must-watch wrestling event of the season! What wacky way was Warren introduced to the world of pro-wrestling? What act of supposed suicide enticed Sam Tate to stay tuned to "Sports Entertainment"? Which cultures around the world are catching on to the trend? Would James and Tiffany come away with an understanding of the artform's entertainment value, or would Sam and Warren once again find themselves alone in the "squared-circle" (or is it "circle of squares") that is wrestling fandom?Learn the answers to these questions and more in this,  the Meatiest Wildcards Podcast yet!The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy! The Wildcards Podcast: The Soundtrack to Our Souls
Recorded January 20th, 2021,This episode was recorded in front of a LIVE Sitting Room audience... but only for about thirty minutes or so!We Wildcards love music. Whether it's an evocative ballad or a pulsing percussive production, each core member of our Deck can think of few adventures more exciting than a new album to dissect. That love has been evident throughout the launch of this show, though too often Dan Harrow has found himself rolling his eyes as some combination of his cohorts burst out into random song... Dan doesn't much care for singing, you see...In an effort to mitigate his suffering, Dan has finally agreed to give James Koch, Robben Stever, and Warren Sprague  the opportunity  to open the flood gates and spill their guts about some of the musical artists that have contributed to the formation of their individual personalities. Shockingly, he even thinks he can come up with a few examples himself. A simple and straight-forward theme of sharing with our Wild Things a little something about ourselves, this week's episode of The Wildcards Podcast sees the gang relax a little, tell some stories, sing some songs, and learn a little bit more about one another. Which Wildcard wastes little time before owning up to embarrassing musical demons? Which one found spirituality through upbeat-but-emotional metal? ... and just how much does James Koch F&%$ing love Tool? Join the core four Wildcards as they explore these questions and more in this week's fast-flowing, fun, and flat-out-funny Wildcards Podcast! The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy! A Winter X-Games Primer With The Wildcards
Recorded January 16th, 2021,This episode was recorded in front of a LIVE Sitting Room audience!Pet passions are an important topic for each core member of The Wildcards Podcast team. Whether it's Formula 1 Racing or Professional Wrestling, the Wildcards hold a commitment to both share AND accept one another's passions. Enter a semi-salty James Koch, still smarting from the Championship-caliber coup he fell victim to last week at the hands of "Dastardly" Dan Harrow. In order to keep the peace around the Deck, The Wildcards collectively agreed that James would be granted the opportunity to share details of his pet passion with the group first. Lucky for James that the Winter X-Games 2021 are set to commence on January 29th!An Action Sports advocate since the age of 9, James enters this conversation well-equipped to play "Professor X-Games" to his Podcast posse as he primes them for this Winter's most eXhilarating eXhibition. James plans on using last year's X-Games footage to share some favorite events that won't be returning this year, and of course he can't wait to show off and break down how every competition's gold medalist came out ahead of their peers!Joining James is the core deck this week. Dan Harrow flaunts his new Championship belt and chides deviously at the congregation. Robben Stever contributes his reliable brand of youthful energy, and Warren Sprague minds the flow of the conversation as he constantly tries to sound like he understands stuff. Also joining the crew this week are Two  real-life Wild Things! That's right, not only does this podcast have two listeners, but those listeners are also joining in to investigate action sports for themselves and partake in the conversational calamity! Can James successfully pass off the energy of Winter X-Games to the rest of the Wildcards, let alone to our loyal Wild Things? Which events that won't be appearing in this year's lineup does he lament the most? And what groundbreaking athlete will leave the whole room clamoring for more by the conclusion of the eXchange? It's efficient! It's educational! And above all... it's EXTREME!  Come feed YOUR wild side with this week's episode of The Wildcards Podcast! The Wildcards have LAUNCHED much of their social media strategy!
