I liked this podcast at first
I used to like this podcast until the last episode when the host made it sound like MAGA and liberals just have a “difference of opinion.” The host’s false moral equivalency belittles the harm happening right now. All the gardeners in my area are slowly disappearing, thus lawns are not being mowed. HIV test services are being cut, thus there will be people with HIV walking around not knowing if they are HIV positive. Trans people are getting beaten on the streets. My local car wash is closed due to no workers. And soon millions will lose their healthcare. If anything, the Weimar republic is now just in a 21st-century wrapping. How would you feel if a masked thug ran up to you demanded to “see your papers?” Naïve and very ignorant. Unfollow.

Listen if you dare
Every word of Bremner’s marvelous podcast is blushed with infectious passion. A timely exploration of an emergent cultural panoply of unabashed, unbridled individual expression. WW 1 appeared to unhinge anyone who participated, especially the German population from any and all constraints or affectations of the civil norms of its time. Birthed from the depravity of total war, the complete devaluation of a human life, Bremner describes an explosion of expression ranging from transcendent joy to utter despair, at least that’s what I’m getting 😊. Really though, listen in, he tells spectacular stories so instructive and pertinent to this time of mushrooming authoritarianism it’s at once hope, comfort, amusement and ammunition. And, if you ever get to see him perform please do, you’ll be in the company of a true artist with as pure a heart as you may ever experience.

Fascinating
The first three episodes are absolutely fascinating and brilliantly done. I’m looking forward to future episodes. Thanks for providing a window to an era that’s was so influential and, given our current situation, is so important to understand.
