The Weekly Pint
The Weekly Pint
The Gnarly Gnome
The weekly pint is a live podcast recorded every Monday evening. Don't think of it as a show, but a happy hour. Usually, we talk about beer news and booze news, especially Cincinnati-focused stuff—but with a drink in hand, you never really know what will come up! Crack open a cold one and join us!
Wait... Does This Mean That People Don't Like Massive Drinks?
It's Highball time in the studio - and there's a reason for that. I don't know if the impending closure of HighBall down in OTR is a sign of people not liking the cocktail, or just the natural turnover of bars - but I for one... like drinking them.We also talked about Fabled Brew Works and their upcoming international tap takeover, the downfall of Schlitz, and we'll try to figure out what mystery bar and restaurant is for sale in Mason. All of this is fueled by today's rum choice - Captain Morgan, that aforementioned HighBall, MadTree's Queen City Pale Ale, and a beer that unexpectedly got pulled from the fridge - something called Ožujsko... which I don't know how to pronounce, but I now know how to drink...It's a great episode!

It's Summer Drinking Season!
This time of year feels like it was MADE for drinking something tasty. So what type of gnome would I be if I DIDN'T have something? I continue my quest through rum with a little taste of some Rhum Agricole in the form of Rhum JM VSOP, and follow that up with two beers - a perfectly on theme can of Rhinegeist Summer (a lemonade shandy) and a can of Highgrain and Nine Giant's 'High Giant' collaboration.Good show? Yeah, good show. Standard mistakes... yeah, I make some of those. If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I make, you can support and become a Gnomie by going to https://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support

Pa Rum Pa Rum Rum
It continues... my quest to better fill the gaps in my "rum knowledge," and I do it exactly how you think I would - by drinking rum. This week I went with four different bottles, including two high-proof rums that will knock your socks off.I kicked the show off, though with a can of Firestone Walker's Oak Aged Oktoberfest, which despite having a little age on it, was fantastic. We talked about the upcoming closure of Paradise East - and how it makes us feel... and then we drank more rum to make ourselves feel better about it all.A typical weekly pint if I do say so myself. If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I do, you can always support by going to https://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support to become a Gnomie!

They Made What?!?
With a bunch of fun new products being announced by local places this week, we have plenty to talk about on tonight's episode of 'The Show That Isn't A Show" - fueled by a mystery beer pick (that ends up being so good I had to pick the second choice too)! The Rumination continues with a bottle of Plantation (or is that Plantaray?)... all in all... It's a great way to kick off a new week!If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I make, you can help support by becoming a Gnomie by visiting https://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support

Who's Actually Winning?
In a world that's full of "Pickle PBR" and $3 Pints of beer. Where commodity and art are battling daily, and the industry is getting its butt kicked all over. Where breweries are restaurants, wineries are tearing out their grape vines, booze comes in a little plastic ball... It's worth asking ourselves:Who's actually winning at the end of the day?I don't know that we come to a conclusion in this week's episode, but we do drink some rum and a West Coast IPA from Birdfish. That's a plus!If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I make, you can always go to https://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support to become a Gnomie!

Appearances Matter!
This week is one of those weeks where this show allows me the chance to unload a bit. I've been feeling a little "put off" by the lack of care that has been put into too many beers these days, and over a pint of Tsingtao - very NOT local - I'm going to let loose. We'll drink a little rum first, and then we'll dive into it all. Of course, we'll hit some of the other local news, like the return of Misrule Brewing and some hard soda hitting one of our local taprooms. It's a great episode if you ask me!If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I do, you can always support by becoming a Gnomie! A Special Guest? Becherovka Cocktails? A Whirlwind Of A Show!
I love a good action packed live episode! On this week's episode we talk about Speak of the Devil Day at Streetside, which is sounding like it's going to be an epic group of stouts... and that you'll probably need to get there early if you want to snag 'em all. We also talk about what's been going on at Brink and their taproom, and also chat about the upcoming MadTree location... a new Alcove? At Summit Park? Not one to go thirsty... we drink a big, chocolate stout from Wandering Monsters, and craft a couple wild cocktails using the very last of my bottle of Bechdrovka. If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I create, know that you can support by going to http://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support and becoming a Gnomie!

That's Just A Silly Mistake, Right?
I hope that I'm not being too much of a jerk on this week's episode - but there are some things that just kind of get under my skin. Put a swig of Becherovka and a glass of Rhinegeist's Pixel in me, and I might just let my feelings run free.We talked about collaborations at the Lager House, Ball Park beers at the ball park, and big old stouts at Streetside. To keep my ranting at a minimum, I also framed an all-you-can-drink beer post that I stumbled across as an intro into "things that you didn't know were illegal."It's action-packed - but it's NOT a show.If you like this, or any of the content that I make about drinking here in Cincinnati - know that you can always support it by going to http://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support

Don't Think That Because I'm Busy, That I'm Not Still Watching...
I'll admit that the last month has been an adjustment for me, schedule-wise - but that doesn't mean that I'm not still paying attention to what's going on in the Cincinnati drinks scene! THC beverages aren't legal anymore. Guest taps mean what? Is Bad Tom Smith really done for good? There's a lot to talk about, and some labels to fuel the fun... Plus a big old IPA to start the week off right! If you like this show, or any of the stuff that I do - know that you can always go to https://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/support

Ah, We Meet Again!
I think we're distant cousins - Gnomes and Leprechauns, which would explain the affinity that I have for this drinking holiday. As we jump into Paddy's day week, I wanted to talk about who's planning to celebrate and how we're celebrating. We also have to talk about what influences us to drink - and probably SHOULD have talked about what influenced me to drink a Four Loco 'PreGame' cocktail... at least my Sapporo was tasty, I suppose? As always, a reminder that if you love this show - or if you even remotely like any of the stuff that I do, you can become a Gnomie by going to https://www.TheGnarlyGnome.com/Support to help things keep rockin'!
