We are created for purpose. There used to be a tagline in an evangelical circles ‘saved to serve’. God, in his great love, calls us into His story for relationship and he has chosen to use us and to need us for His purposes. Journeying, as we have discovered in the Waterfall Journey towards healing and wholeness is necessary, so that we can then be fully effective and utilised in the service of God. Initially on our journey we may be inward looking as we find our feet and our faith. However, from the beginning God will always be looking and providing opportunities for us to serve others. The journey is not just for ourselves but for those we travel with. As the community encounters new landscapes we learn from one another and our growth then feeds our individual and corporate ministries. If we follow Jesus He will bring us to a place where we will reap the harvest for Him in both areas.

Conversation between God and His children takes many forms. Relationships need many creative forms of communication to become rich and deep. First and foremost, the relationship is one of love and love opens the heart to receive from a vast variety of pallets, the essence and the certainty of the bond. Also we have learnt in the Waterfall Journey that God would heal us, grow us and use us in His plans and purposes. For us to work for Him we need to know His heart and the precise part He wants us to play in the outcome. The truth is, that God is endlessly creative in the ways that He can share His heart with us, when we believe that is His object. So how can we understand what is on His heart. How can I be sure I hear from God? It is the big question that I hear time and time again. The truth is we can know what God is saying to us. Indeed we are going to explore why it is critical for his purposes that we do hear what is on The Father’s heart. We have seen on our Waterfall Journey that our God needs us to know his voice so that he can heal us, train us equip us and lead us into being effective workers in the kingdom. The church will one day be the battle-ready army of the Lord. An army must be trained, must have effective and well understood communication or disaster will follow.

As an individual how do people experience you? Our behaviour is driven by our woundedness and that is why we are all in need of regeneration to be a new creation, to be reborn in the likeness of Christ. We have been discussing the importance of how we do a thing, for it is this that makes the lasting impression of who we are. The skill that we need is awareness. In this podcast we think about self-awareness, world awareness, and spiritual awareness. As we hone our discernment, we can intentionally become more like Jesus.

We have learnt in the Waterfall Journey that God has a story and he has invited us to bring our story into his. He has plans and purposes and we have a part to play in them. As we abide in the presence of the Father he wants us to trust him absolutely but it is a two way street. He also wants to trust us with our part in his story and to trust us with how we will accomplish that calling.WE are choosing beings. We can choose what or who we put our trust in. Trust is the decision and the action of taking a risk in the another person or thing. Faith then builds as the thing we have chosen proves trustworthy and we reaps the surety, safety and confidence of finding the truth in action.

The Waterfall Journey is the ministry of the Holy Spirit. We were born to be supernatural, created in the image of God who is spirit. In the Fall we lost our place to abide in the presence of the Father and the flow of the Spirit. Cut off, with our feet in clay we reverted to being natural man, unrefined by the spirit. The broken relationships and the power of the ego led us to become self-centred and self serving. We are damaged goods, our image and capabilities distorted. We are all in need of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He is the power which will enable the disciples and Church to be the the Army and the Bride and the witnesses, testifying to Jesus on the Earth. Acts 1:8“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the Earth”
