The final episode of this series that looks at cultural definitions of the church reveals that "Secularism renders religion recreational." This episode is powerful, seriously. Isaac and Greg try to get at the heart of what is it that is subverting the church in our time. Why do people generally believe that other forms of recreation are appropriate church-replacements, and what is God's intention? We find that the State is largely responsible for this subversion of Christianity, and that only in the last few centuries.

"God's church doesn't have a mission, God's mission has a church." There's a lot of truth in such a statement, but it's incomplete and it hides some dangerous possibilities for misunderstanding what the church is about. Church is not something you "do", nor is it something we "are". If we keep separating being from action, we end up with broken churches that either do little or lose themselves in other peoples' movements.

Everyone knows that the church is an institution, and it seems like everyone bemoans that fact! But organization seems necessary to any type of group. How does the church navigate its own identity in relation to the organization or institution? What does it mean for those Christians who do not want to be part of an organization? In this episode, Isaac and Greg search through the history and biblical foundations of the church as institution, and then talk about what God’s intention for his people and their organization is.

What could possibly be wrong with viewing the church as the people? Racism, for one! In this episode we see that it is all too easy for a people to invert their thinking about themselves as the people of God into imagining God in their own image. What is God's intention?
