Authenticity has become a major value in Christian spaces, especially among artists and ministers. We’re encouraged to be vulnerable, relatable, and willing to let people see the person behind the platform. But can our pursuit of authenticity ever become too important?
After hearing an interpretation of Lazarus in John 12, I went back to the passage for myself and found myself questioning whether the text actually supports the point being made.
In this episode, I’m exploring the difference between showing people who we are and showing people what Christ has done in us. Because being authentic isn’t the problem. The question is: who gets the glory when people see the real us?
