Today’s title may seem a little bit sassy, and I intended it to be, haha! What does it mean to stay in your own lane, and how does it impact us?This conversation could be a continuation of sorts to the previous Episode 31: The Burden to Better with Heather Creekmore. And I wanted to continue it a bit because I see the pervasiveness of comparison and striving in our culture that sets us up to be routinely discontent, disenchanted, and morose with daily life. For many of us, we are walking out our lives in many different roles with many responsibilities. We have never been more connected to others in history than we are now, but there has been this rise of needing authenticity due to the ego-driven, self-serving nature with which most people share across the web. Connection is priceless, community is the heartbeat of our purpose here on Earth. Jesus tells us to go into all the nations and make disciples. We are created to connect, and share. BUT, there is a key piece that has been eroded away in culture today. And that piece has been the holy nature of Christ. Why do we share things with people? Most times, it's because we need something, or we need to align ourselves with an expectation we have of ourselves OR that we are trying to meet with the outside world. Staying in my own lane has really meant being focused on running my own race with Christ. I don’t have to run against what someone else is doing, or what someone else is convicted by… I simply must show up daily to serve Christ in the circumstance I am currently facing..in my OWN LANE.I am meant to serve the convictions of my OWN HEART. I am meant to observe what is before me in order to better serve what is around me. We dive into this and more in this episode! Finding joy is a concept I have marveled at for 3 important reasons - 1) is because I often ponder "can joy really be found?" 2) because I love learning and researching personal development and 3) Well, joy can sometimes be elusive to me. A main component that makes joy in our lives more elusive is most of us on a daily basis or even on a moment by moment basis aren’t living in the present. In this episode, we dive into the power our thinking has over our joy and step by step ways we can learn to be more joyful each and every day. As a believer in Christ , we are given LIFE and freedom to live it abundantly in Christ. We can live IN JOY by mandating our brains to feel that way. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." Proverbs 18:21Do not underestimate the power that your words and thoughts have over your life. Finding joy is possible just by speaking it into existence thru your faith in Christ.Establishing a rhythm is something that TRULY brings so much joy to your everyday! You don’t have to plan every detail, or live by a precise schedule, but working into your days standing activities will ensure that you are being intentional with your life. And when we can be intentional, it creates margin to incorporate the life-giving elements that fill us up, and push us to grow!Listen in to hear the 4 things I do daily that bring joy into my life without much effort. We have to be able to see where God wants us to go, and not be pigeon-holed into what we want for ourselves. God has a calling for your life, and His plans are the best plans. This is a point I’ve struggled with strongly, which I talk about in this episode. It’s easy to compare ourselves, marriage, lifestyle, home, finances, family against what other’s have. And it is the THIEF OF JOY!Do not be consumed with what others say is important, successful, or meaningful >>> they are living THEIR life, and you are living YOUR’S! This episode ended with a wonderful love and kindness meditative prayer, listen in to get some rest and focus on feeling love and kindness over yourself and those you love. .You can also listen to the meditations any time by going to boldpearls.com/meditations to listen!Until Next time, “Do Not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… Romans 12:2Go live with bold intention!Follow us on instagram and checkout Facebook too! False beliefs are stopping you from living life to your fullest. This week, I want to dig deeper into false beliefs that are attached to our personalities. Some of you may relate to all or some of them, and once we learn this about our mindset, we can learn to do something about it! So often, we are left thinking that life is too much, not enough, or plainly in the middle. So let’s jump into what God has taught us about WHO we are and where this knowledge can take us.This podcast is organized by focusing on four false beliefs we tend to struggle with as Christians. I am paraphrasing these from the book, “The Search for Significance” by Robert McGee. I LOVE this book and there are so many takeaways. I know this conversation will give you light-bulbs like it did for me.If you aren’t part of the insiders group, JUMP IN! This group is a dedicated space for our community to grow, and engage on a deeper level. Be sure to follow over on INSTAGRAM! We are celebrating The Thought Vault Podcast's FIRST YEAR BIRTHDAY! In this series we are sharing "The Best Of" in preparation for new episodes coming soon! This is a great time to catch up on crowd favorites! We all hear that forgiveness is healing. That we heal ourselves from forgiving others and that it’s a gift when forgiveness is offered to us. From a biblical sense, this is precisely what we are taught as Christians; we should forgive the same way Christ forgave us. I do believe that healing comes from forgiveness, but there is a real struggle in the midst of this action. Sometimes we can't forget. Sometimes, forgiveness doesn’t seem fair or warranted. The process of forgiveness can be arduous and painful or easy and light. There’s a lot that is involved in forgiveness, and your faith in Christ will play a HUGE role in it. This is what we’re going to talk about today, the mess of forgiveness.Forgiveness broke my family and in this episode, I dive into that hurt, & how we’ve learned to cope with this circumstance that has forever shaped each of us. Forgiving oneself can sometimes feel impossible, and can be the hardest to give. Shame, and guilt can destroy anyone. Forgiving ourselves, is taking care of ourselves in a way that helps us for our present and for our future. But The Enemy will make our minds turn against who we are, and who we know we are in Christ. It’s easy to go dark, and can be very hard to stay in the light. But that’s where forgiveness takes us, back to the light. Back to Christ.Dr Caroline Leaf cited in her book, Think Learn Succeed that Scientific research shows that forgiveness and love are good for your mind, brain, and body health! Ongoing results of the “Forgiveness Study” carried out by researchers at the University of Wisconsin found that people who develop an ability to forgive have greater control over their emotions; are significantly less angry, upset, and hurt; and are much healthier. It’s easier to move forward into a purposeful future when you have truly forgiven.Forgiveness = freedom. Think about that for a moment. What does that mean for you? With this episode, it seemed fitting to end with an exercise that I learned from Professor Ronald Siegal, of Harvard Medical School, to help handle the emotions and feelings of forgiveness and hurts.Let’s give this exercise aptly called the Soften Soothe, Allow Method, listen to this episode to practice this highly effective exercise that will give you the mindset to walk through deep hurts, and quite possibly get you to the point of forgiveness. Forgiveness is something we all must face in life, and the choice to forgive can radically change the rest of our lives, and if we aren’t intentional, it can dictate the health of our bodies and heart. How do you want to live? Sometimes, forgiveness is the one thing holding us back. And isn’t it wonderful that Jesus didn’t hold it back from us? Thank you for listening to this episode. Don’t forget to subscribe, and leave a review, and share this episode > it means so much! Anytime you want to listen to the meditative prayers or exercises from our episodes, go to boldpearls.com/meditations to get a link to all of them! They’re free of course! WE ARE CELEBRATING ONE YEAR of THE THOUGHT VAULT!Currently, we are enjoying a "Best of " series to celebrate crowd favorites from this past year in preparation for new episodes coming soon! In the previous episode, we talked about the Power of our Brains, and touched on one tool in particular that has been scientifically proven to help us be more present in our everyday moments > and that is meditative prayer, and in a simple phrase > practicing mindfulness. Today’s episode we are diving deep into this! I get pretty vulnerable and discuss in this episode the struggles I’ve been challenged with since I was in elementary school. It has been very arduous and exhausting journey, and something I struggle with still from time to time. Let's start with the basics first of what meditative prayer is…Meditation: is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.Prayer: can be defined as talking to God, but it is much more than that. Prayer is an act of worship that glorifies God and reinforces our need for Him. Through living a life of prayer, we respond to Christ's work of salvation and communicate with the very source of and purpose for our existenceSo in essence meditative prayer (or as some refer to it, Christian Meditation) is a form of prayer in which a structured attempt is made to become aware of and reflect upon the revelations of God / Christ as your saviour. It’s simply about deeply focusing on God’s presence and His word. Taking a purposeful moment to focus solely on your relationship with Christ, by emptying your mind of the world and totally filling your mind with His presence and peace.During my research, I was able to devour so many Christian resources on meditative prayer. Listen in to the episode to hear more insight on this. Bible references in this episode: Matthew 22:37 Psalms 26:2 Psalm 119:15Psalm 119:148Romans 12:16 Isaiah 26:3 Corinthians 2:16Meditation has been proven to relieve stress, help with many physical ailments, and when we are focusing on prayer, we are strengthening and connecting with Christ. “You do not have a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7The main points of meditation are1- relaxation2-intent 3- refocus on ChristI share in the episode how I used meditative prayer during our miscarriage. And how I dealt with that difficult time. You can listen to each episode’s exercise by visiting https://boldpearls.com/meditations Thank you for listening to this episode! Please subscribe, leave a review, and share this episode! It would mean so so much. Let’s help everyone feel better about we are walking thru in this season.
